Hi Mate. I'm a Coptic Christian and have been following this story quite religiously. Thank God for the good outcome in this case where he was returned but the lack of international pressure early on is qute unsettling. Thanks for covering this and shedding some light upon such a terrible situation. Cannot believe that they would rather this child in an orphanage without a loving family than for adoption.

You are right. This is the worst. I can say this with authority as an adoptee. I was blessed to have the parents I had. I was an older child so that makes it even more special to me. I shudder to think I might have been shuttled about in foster homes and very probably traumatized at one time or another. Thankfully we don't have orphanages anymore. That would have been worse.

The most ridiculous (and REPUGNANT) ruling in Islam is the fact that in a legal framework, non-Muslims' testimony is automatically rejected in case it was against a Muslim. Ibn Uthaimeen, a respectable Saudi scholar, says the reason for that is because 'Kuffar are treacherous by nature.'

Anyone else feels like the women of the time knew exactly what they're getting with the Prophet? Seems Muhammad was a real easy mark for Zainab. First mary the adoptive son, then when Muhammad is around expose herself to him, oops violated all of Muhammad own modesty laws, well she's a relative so it's fine to see her face. Mistakes happen when you exit the bath... Next thing we know adoption is illegal, the former son divorced, and Zainab brags about a match made in heaven and being the Seal's most prestigious wife.

Though the banning of adoptions seems the worst ruling driven by lust, the ones driven by narcissism are worse:

A blind man murdered his wife, the mother of his children, and when he was brought for justice before Muhammad his defense was she insulted Muhammad. Though the claim was not verified by any witness, this was enough for the Prophet to not only acquit the murderer but shower him with praise. This precedence allows not only for Muslim men to fabricate blasphemy accusations against people who's words are less valuable in court (women, non-muslims) thus legally executing them and taking their possessions, but also normalizes and encourages honor killings.

Never knew this, it is repugnant to take an adoptive child especially after 4 years and place them into an orphanage. I commend the Egyptian political authorities for their courage to do the right thing reversing the sharia law ruling.

The most inhuman law came into being through the lustful desire of a false prophet. I pray for the Egyptian family that is in such distress. Adoption is the most humane and most satisfying way to solve the problem of orphanhood and childlessness, as I can testify. Orphanages cannot provide the deep emotional nurturing for the lost children as I know. They usually suffer from a sense of otherness and alienation in society. It is nothing but barbarity to take away an adopted child forcibly from its parents. How so cruel. In my own family I have seen adopted children grow up happily into fine individuals. To hell with Sharia. The Caravan Robber's Lust has ruined the lives of millions. How long will this be?

Muhammad is for me the last straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back. Boy, he was something. He married his step-son’s wife. Had sex with a woman the same night when her whole family has just been massacred by Muhammad’s men. He married a girl who was still playing on the swing and had dolls with her. The list goes on. And this is the man that Muslims are told should be followed—the al-Insan al-kamil—the man who has perfected being a man.

This incident also produced another privilege of muhammed; being allowed to marry any man's wife. All he needed to do is tell the husband that he desires his wife, and the husband is forced to divorce his wife and allow muhammed to marry her.
