They’re flawless. Their only undefeated enemy is rust!

A majority of the turn of the century jdms are bullet proof. My ek civic coupe had 375k before I got a new engine and she still had life left. I changed my oil every 4k and did my timing every 90k. Compression was like a B+ as well :)

My 05 Nissan Titan has 230k. Engine is quiet, smooth and never been touched. 5k oil changes. Changed plugs at140k and it's seen redline thousands of times (6.2k redline) Never needs oil between changes.

"Just how reliable is an early 2000's Toyota?"

It will never die if you don't let it

115k on my 2008 FJ Cruiser. Every 5-6k with Royal Purple and Wix XP filter. Running good.
My sister gave me this as a gift, she was the original owner. It's a rust free California car. Silver and White, I just added a drop in K&N filter, dynomax 20" super turbo muffler., new HD sway bar links ( Mevotech) and polyurethane front and rear sway bar bushings. Basic mods that helped out.

One if the boys at my high school had a 2000s model toyota truck and he was merciless on that thing, it had seen countless amounts of time in the rev limiter and it took every second of it and is still running strong

4th gen with ira 4.7l v8 and 5th gen is basically the newest version of that V6 in that 3rd gen except it makes more power more displacement and has a lot less maintenance 4l v6 is a pretty indestructible reliable dependable

My 2001 F-150 saw over 278, 500 miles. Rode in it from my first year of life (was my grandad's) and constantly since until I owned it about my 19th year. Lasted about four years after that, then there was the incident...suspension had bent at an odd angle without me knowing. Went over a railroad crossing not a mile from my house. Rear end was kept in the air long enough for the truck to lose control and change directions three times before going airborne sideways on the opposite side of the road (coming into a curve) at 60 MPH, over the ditch, landing backwards in a yard so hard the front bumper had to be torn off by hand for it to be able to pull itself out. Couldn't move my left arm or leg for four hours. Y'know what happened to the truck?

It shrugged it off and still runs the roads of Swansboro NC to this day.

03’ Toyota Tacoma, 357, 000 miles. Runs like brand new.

Most maintenance I’ve ever done is change the spark plugs and one plug sensor.

You just can’t beat them

My dads had many 4Runners, his most recent being a ‘96
Did regular maintenance and rebuilt the engine once, then had to replace head gasket (common SR5 problem) about every 100k km, finally blew another head gasket at 350000km and he ended up selling it a few months later. I grew up in and will forever love 4Runners.
