How to replace a sink drain with push button stopper

Replacing a sink drain is a simple DIY task. Pop up drain assembly features a push button stopper rather than a pull handle stopper. Because there are less obstructions in the drain itself, there are fewer clogs as a result. There are several on Amazon:

The pop-up in our video was:

Other examples of pop-up drains are:

I am a 77-year-old woman learning DIY plumbing. With your video, I was able to connect a new push up stopper (hated pop up connection to faucet) working all the way to the wall to clean out p-trap. Thank you thank, you thank, you!. Very clear and explicit video. You save me at least 100 if not more dollars to bring somebody in for this fairly simple fix.😊

I want to say thank you so much for this video. I am not a plumber. I’ve never done plumbing… managed to change the faucet just fine without a video but when it came to the pop-up drain, I was at a loss. I followed your instructions, step-by-step, and was successful. No leaks either!! 🎉 thanks again.!

My dad just paid a plumber to do this for $260.00 -_-. I’ll be doing this from now on as needed. Thank you for the video.

I've watched several videos and yours was the easiest for me to follow. I really appreciate how you kept it quick, simple and a slow step by step. Thank you so much for taking the time to help us out!

Thank you been going crazy cause the drain had no threads. Now I know it deals with the washer. Thanks. Single mom here blessed by people who do YouTube.

Thanks. That was a very clear and concise explanation. And having done a few plumbing projects recently, I can appreciate the sense of satisfaction you must have had when you ran the water for the first time and there were no leaks. Nice job.

Great video! For anyone considering this upgrade, the one he installed in the video is still quite prone to clogs due to the three cross bars inside the drain. The best alternative in my opinion is the type where the plug just threads into the threaded sides of a COMPLETELY OPEN drain (no crossbars!). These still require routine cleaning, but much less

6:30 not a plumber here but a committed DIY’er — just a suggestion that some Teflon tape wrapped counter clockwise (if you’re looking down into the drain) 5-6 times will keep water seeping through the threads. Ask me how I know, lol…

You saved us first time home owners from what could’ve been a wasted evening getting stuck halfway working on this at 9PM 😮‍💨 Thanks so much for this video, it’s exactly what we needed as we replaced an old restroom faucet.

The hardest thing about plumbing is where it is located. Very nice video Sir!

Thanks for explaining why there is a p-trap. I always wondered why it was curved like that. I learned something today, thanks!!

Absolutely the best video on uninstalling a pop-up sink drain. You made it look easy but I could not unscrew and removel the the stem (4 min mark). Mine spins and I can't separate from the flange at the top!

Great video! I’m replacing my faucet and sink today with a pop up drain. My husband is helping me, but I like to tell him what to do. Ha. Plumbing is not our favorite thing to do.

Super straightforward and appreciated. About to tackle a faucet replacement, have the old lever style drain, but all the new faucets kits available use the pop-up type. I'm a single mom comfortable with some DIY, but gosh really needed this video. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and making this!!

thank you - really clear and concise -- gives me hope and I understand the usefulness of a push button stopper vs the kind with the stick thing. I think I can do this, but will probably still hire a plumber to be sure nothing breaks. But
