We integrate sec(x) using a little trick, multiplying by (secx+tanx)/(secx+tanx) in order to enable using u-substitution with u = secx+tanx. From there, it's a standard change of variables integral! #apcalculus #calculus1

Some other antiderivatives (suppressing the additive constant) are arsinch(tan x), artanh(sin x), and, obviously, the inverse Gudermannian function.
