Step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire!

With a huge following and major blockbusters under his belt, Zack Snyder has seemingly secured a deal with Netflix to kinda do whatever he wants. We saw this come to fruition with Army of the Dead a few years ago and now he’s at it again with kinda Star Wars!

Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire definitely raises some questions. Like is this movie a long montage? Why is everything slow-mo? When you join the squad, are you required to just stand silently in the background?

To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire!

You didn't summarize the plot in 5 minutes, you explained every detail of the entire plot in 5 minutes (with some time left for jokes).

The film felt like a fantasy RPG where you spend the first half recruiting your party but you don’t bother to go through each of your companion’s dialogue options to max out their affinity. Your only interest is that everyone looks cool and has good stats.

This is the most accurate pitch meeting ever filmed. You should have done it in slow motion.

"did they even ask her to join?" The page flapping at 2:39 killed me. 😆😅🤣😂

The “Who was that?” “One of them.” “Oh no!” bit was perfect comedy.

Ryan's critiques are usually so polite but his disdain really shines through in this one.

I love the scene where they have the heroes trapped but for no reason leave one of them free and then give him the device that can free the others for no reason at all other than they'd written themselves into a corner.

I’m rewatching the pitch meeting of a movie I’ll never see in order to watch the pitch meeting for a sequel of a movie that I never intend to see.

Ryan waiving the papers as if there was more to the story that could just fall out absolutely killed me 🤣🤣

It's a shame Ryan didn't mention by far the stupidest moment in the movie where Bloodaxe guy kills a side turret gunner and dies in the process, but then his hand falls down to a lever and pushes it accidentally, and then the whole ships starts leaning, loses balance and crumbles down to the ground as if the the entire ship was controlled from the side turret cockpit .

The one robot dude sounds like a good movie on its own. I don't know how it would go, but the design for the guy at the end looks awesome, and a more organic sci-fi aesthetic that is more metaphorical than "This space ship literally has veins, and is basically a living organism" would be kind of neat.

Probably will only be used for this movie but the “great scene! Great scene” bit with the nod is amazing

I especially liked how they recruited the general dude because he was this tactical genius, and then he proceeded to bring exactly nothing to the table for the rest of the film.

The "are they going to be able to defeat this guy they've killed already" really got me

I tried watching this movie, but gave up halfway through and watched the Pitch Meeting instead. Exactly right that the whole movie could have been a montage! I love it! My only dissapointment is that Ryan is probably not enough of a Star Trek fan to notice that the "Spider Lady" was the freaking BORG QUEEN! I mean an exact replica of the Borg Queen except with a spider body. I think that was around the time I turned it off.

"OH NO, Darian! ... which one was that?"
"One of them!"
_"Oh no!"_

Perfect mix of writing & delivery. ❤

That wasn't just an overview of the movie, that was literally everything that happened.

In the last couple years, Ryans Pitch Meetings have become much better content than the actual movies he pitches, keep it coming, Ryan!

“And then Darien dies!”
“Oh no, Darre-Darren! Which one-who was that?”
“ _One_ of them.”
“Oh no!”

That’s probably my new favorite exchange from Pitch Meeting. Perfectly sums up that moment.

The thing that bothered me the most, more than anything Ryan brought up was how the whole point of recruiting everyone was to save the main girls village, but by taking the rebel leader and some of his guys they doomed the peaceful planet that was sheltering them.
