New Sod Fertilizing And Treatment Schedule | New Sod Care

If you had new sod installed, you need to put down the right lawn treatments to keep it healthy and vigorous for the long haul!

If it was not clear in the video, you need to make sure and run this program all the way through on full single season. So if you start in June, you need to run it all the way until the end of the very next year. Get the full dose of treatments in plus some.

The guys mowing and fertilizing in the video are just some local buddies of mine. Most of the lawns they care for are brand new sod and they know the challenges that exist too. The one thing we all count on from homeowners is the proper irrigation! That is truly the foundation of new sod turning out healthy.

I just laid down some sod that my brother cut from his yard that was professionally fertilized. It was cut and drying out for 2 days before I laid it. It is looking rough and I am not sure if I need to bag it and go buy better sod or if I can salvage it and just stick it through. First-time homeowner shoutout!

So you would aerate new sod within 12 months. I don't know about that. Tearing up those roots that are just getting off to a start. I might be wrong tho.

I just laid Bermuda Tiffway 419. We are in a string of 105 degree days, I am watering 2x a day because of the heat and sun. AM I over watering? I am in central Texas and my neighbors have used the 1X a day watering plan and there's looks great. What do you think?

Hello I live in Southern California. I had St. Augustine grass laid down on 06/29/2018 . So I’m about to weeks in . I already notice weeds coming in around the edges . Should I spot check with chemicals ? And what step of this fertilizer video should I start in ?

I live in Riverview FL. I moved into a new house just after Christmas and St Augustine sod was put down right around that time. I haven't done anything to the lawn yet, other than watering and within the past month or so it's been raining frequently (as you know) so I'm letting Mother Nature do her thing. My grass is a little yellow and not growing much. Do you have a video that kind of addresses where I'm at in my lawn care? I watched your video about the 3 in 1 fertilizer and was about to start that program. Thanks....glad I found your channnel!

So i started your program this Spring in Colorado on “new Colorado Blue sod” installed last Fall. I have been “mowing tall”, but i think the grass near the sprinklers are colliding with water and i am now seeing these green areas near the sprinklers and drying elsewhere. Any ideas on how to mitigate this without mowing low? Can i “weed-wack” around the sprinkler heads?

Just came upon your video as I was looking for info on caring for sod. We had our new sod put down mid June we live in Ontario Canada. We watered as we were told and continue to water once a week expect when it has rained. I have had to cut down on watering as our water bill was extremely high. I failed to fertilize it though and just called the landscaping company to get information on what fertilizer and such should I put on the lawn. it's been so hot here this summer by the way. This is a brand new house we bought so never had grass it's part of the home builders and they decide who and when sod is put in. I was told to get some from a farm supply place near by it's triple stuff 16, 16, 16 and has sulphur in it. He said apply it before or after a rainfall. Lawn is looking dark green due to the hot water and it needs a good water but it's healthy otherwise. Can you give me any other tips? Your video is good but way too many steps for me too keep up with unfortunately .

Awesome video! I just had my new sod installed on my 2600 sqft backyard in Seattle, WA. I water the lawn 45 minutes each time, 2X a day ( we are not raining in Seattle!) I have a couple of questions:
1. Is the water enough? How to adjust the amount from now ( one week since the sod installed)
2. When is the first time to fertilize? 16-16-16 is a good option? how often?
3. when is the first time to mow? how much to mow?
4. Any special care for the NW lawn?

I live in southern Louisiana and my yard has been terrible since I moved in my home. The previous homeowners did not sod and I’m not even sure if the lawn was seeded. If I were to start over, do you recommend tilling followed by laying sod or properly seeding? Also, would centipede or St. Augustine grass be better? Thank you for your channel.
