My advice as a driver since 2017 is not to wait until the last week of the month to drive uber to pay the rent or mortgage.
Earn hard by the 25th so you can pay on time when the apps are flooded and less rides are available

There’s thieves the last three years my income went down 10% each year. These boot rates are a joke because you don’t get the full boot rate and they’re shaving at miles. If you accept the trip and it says 17 miles when you get to the destination to take them to the drop off, it’s 18 miles that’s One Mile of riding

You're right don't count on tips..Not even at the airport..But, to say the Riders can't afford it is nonsense..Every Rider can afford $1.00 tip...But, tip is something u should not count on

I no longer drive for Uber/ Lyft. I did it for 5 years and had enough last August.
Do not take trips that pay you less than what you feel you should be making on a trip.

Do not solely depend on this gig to pay your monthly expenses.

There's a couple more tips. Get a dash cam just in case of that time. Where you have an accident and the other driver says it's your phone number 2. If you have a passenger who has groceries, we're picking up somebody to take them to the airport and they have luggage, or you're picking them up from the airport and they have luggage. Get your lazy butt out of the car and help them with their packages. It's courteous. It is professional and they like it even if they say no I got it. Get out and make the effort. It's good customer service. And some people don't like to listen to your stinking hip-hop or rap music. Turn the music off when we have a passenger in the car. And above all, do not video Facetime with somebody or talk to somebody on the phone, and if they want to make a phone call, that's their business. It all boils down to treat people like you. Wanna be treated with respect?

Experienced driver here, with Uber and lyft. Over 5, 000 rides. Five stars with Lyft, 4.99 with uber. I say that to say I'm a good driver and people obviously like me. However, even with that only about 33% of my passengers tip. And I go far above and beyond for most of them. Allowing them to use my cell phone charger, allowing them to roll down the window in 117 degree heat letting out all my cold air when it takes me hours to cool down my car because passengers are in and out every 20 minutes. Or let them talk on the phone obnoxiously loud with their speaker on, allow them to eat in my You know how it is. When you go above and beyond for a passenger like that then you've absolutely earned a tip. But you can't expect one and shouldn't even hope for one, otherwise you'll start to hate your job. You'll start to view everyone as cheap or ungrateful. When the truth is most of them are just self-absorbed. They're just thinking about where they need to go and what they're going to do when they get their. They're not thinking about the kind effort you made for them. Or the sacrifice you just made by taking a 2-hour break in the middle of your day to clean up their dogs pee in the backseat. Or by having to tolerate the vomit smell in your car for the next 4 or 5 hours when they vomited into the vomit bags you provide for them. No tips for any of those. Never have I gotten a tip from vomiting passengers or people who bring in their animals and get hair all over the place. But seriously you have to not hope for it. I view it as I'm in their life to get a paycheck (a small one after expenses) and make their day a little better by providing them with someone- a cell phone charger when their battery is only at 7% and they're waiting to hear from their kid or something. Or turning down my radio so that the two men in the back can talk business without any distractions.
He's right I absolutely would not do this as a full-time thing unless you had no other choice. That being said, crossing my fingers and hoping to find something decent real soon.

Good luck to all the drivers out there! ☺️🫶🏼🙋🏼‍♀️

Thank you, I generally agree with you except for tips. Yes, most people do not tip. I have been driving for 10 years (part time). Started in SF and now in Charlotte last 7 years. 15000 + trips. I'm retired, this is not a job to support my family. Regarding 'long trips'...1 hour +. I have driven over 10 trips that were 2 hours plus...my longest 4 hours to drop off. When the rider gets in the car, I say "hi, I see this is a long trip, taking me out of my driving range. I'm going to have to request a tip to cover my return expenses. Out of 10 plus long rides, only one rider refused to agree to a tip. In fact, he became very angry with me (btw, he said he was an Uber driver himself) and told me I was not allowed to request that and that he was going to report me directly to Uber. I said I certainly can request it and by all means, report me to Uber. (my star rating is 4.98). Every other rider has gladly tipped me. Many tip in cash upfront. I won't do a long ride with it.

I drive Uber full-time and do not view this as a JOB. This is my business and I operate it as such. Uber is just the most convenient way to book my clients at this time.

Using this platform to get my other business off the ground.

In my opinion, 10 years experience driving with Uber I pick up More theory 2000 people Uber it used to be easy job clean good money now or three years ago start getting so bad and dirty job not worth to work not not worth to put this a mile on the car is taking a lot of money from the passenger, but not paying to the driver. I prefer working with another company, much better much better money more convenient. I respect your opinion. Keep going. I I wishthe best for you.

First tip, find a real job and only work for uber or Lyft to make extra money. They will take more than 50% of the fare. You will have experience car maintenance, plus car depreciation. At the of the year you have to pay tax and buy a expensive health insurance.

Thank you for sharing this informative video. I would like to address Tip #3: I typically do not wait the full duration (7 minutes) to collect the cancellation fee for a trip. The only exceptions to this practice occur when I have a significant opportunity to travel to my preferred destination or when I observe a passenger heading to the airport with extra luggage. By choosing not to wait, I am able to assert a level of control over my decisions, ensuring that each ride is mutually beneficial.

TIP #1: After a long trip always use the destination filter to get back to your primary area.

Doesn't pay much just like a second income job but another tip skill I was told by a great friend when I started is to slow down when approaching apartment complex or building facilities, turning around corners since there's a delay of course with cell phone data as you're turning or stopping.

I used to be between 85 and 83% now I’m down to 34 acceptance. I hate to go on because I got to refuse so many rides so I don’t know what’s gonna happen if I get below 20 or 10.
