I've become a huge fan of Simons. Any time I see a new video posted, it brightens my day a bit. Having someone grounded speak on the ET topic is a rare gem in this community.

I actually understand what he's saying because of the wonderful way he explains it

Hi Prof Simon, a while back you did a video with Paul Devereaux on Earth Lights, who talked about travelling to Australia to study the Min Min lights among other places, other names. I wish you would get that guy back on to do a follow up podcast/interview, expanding on those stories and giving more to us on his observations in different countries. He is a tome of information tragically unknown.

I'm still listening, and looking up, whenever the sky is clear. Thanks, Prof!

Prof Holland puts me in mind of Prof Brian Cox in the beautiful, eloquent and understandable
way they bring science to us armchair fans. Bravo, Mr Holland, sir 👌

There is always a catch isn't there. They just don't want to admit it.

Your last vid - blew my mind and it got me thinking about the potential of time displacement and the potential energy requirements... maybe humans have figured out how some NHI tech works, allowing us to bend space time A LITTLE, but not how to generate enough power to warp us to another star system etc, so to speak... I.e. we can't duplicate NHI power systems, but we figured out some of the other stuff... this is just mee thinking out loud... It feels crazy even saying it, but somehow not wrong! Thanx Prof - your vids are AMAZING on so many levels.

Unless someone or something is trying to specifically speak to US, wouldn't the signal most likely be marginal?
Are we assuming that any signal we pick up is going to be one that was generated for the purpose of communication?
Or do we expect to, sooner or later, pick up some kind of random transient signal like our noise we send out randomly everyday since the Olympics in Germany?
Doesn't it seem like a civilization intelligent enough to send a signal to another civilization or maybe communicating with its own beings on another world would be smart enough to do so in a way another planet full of beings wouldnt be able to detect?
Is it a smart thing to do to let the entire cosmos know you're there?
What if we are ringing the dinner bell for a passing freighter full of monsters looking for a quick snack while they fuel up with all our drinking water and gold?

The Breakthrough Listen people are going to feel kinda foolish once the Europeans you mentioned reveal that they have had records of alien visual transmissions in their possession for the past two decades

The truth is out there, but when will we get it? Hopefully in our lifetimes.

Hi Professor Simon.
Hello from Australia 🌏🦘.
I just came across this.
Can you bring us all up to speed on this as Australia is ramping up it's US based special satellites 📡.
What's going on?

Until we hear for definite may I suggest a very apt book to read which I’ve just finished and it may whet your appetite! It’s called The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell. A radio signal has been detected coming from Alpha Centauri and it’s the sound of singing…….!

The best idea might be to shift via frequency any signals from there by the same amount of Doppler shift as detected, up and down in sync, this will make the noise which is not the same source appear to shift up and down instead and expose some other signals you might not easily see as a fixed unwavering signal. Let's get enough data to confirm a modulation in the original signal, and then that's game, set, and match. My guess is if the signal is constant the narrow band it will be Radar. Radar is a beneficial form of radio frequency, useful even if you do not use it for communication, and useful independent of your language, the chances of using it for detection and range finding are going to be high for any technical civilisation.
