NBC’s Keir Simmons and former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul join Andrea Mitchell to discuss Russian President Vladimir Putin blaming the U.S. and NATO for rising tensions on the Ukrainian border and talks of war. “Today and yesterday, were incredibly provocative black and white speeches,” says McFaul. “He's put out some pretty extremist views that you know, maybe it's a gambit in the beginning of a negotiation, but it's going to be hard for him to come back to some of the very, I would say outrageously false things he said over the last few days.”

At least we have a President now that doesn't agree with him or owe Russia lots of money.

Putin is like Trump, always accusing everyone else of cheating, when he's the one actually doing the cheating.

He's the one obviously preparing to invade a neighbor. Doing that while calling other countries "provocative" is just lol.

Putin needs to ask the question: "Do I want the Russian people to exist?". As he is going now, if he flies off the handle - they may not.

When I was in the US Navy in the 80's we used to call Putin "Tooty Pooty" and moon his spy ships.

Trump would have just handed Putin Ukraine as a Christmas present, with no thought for the resulting carnage. He admires Putin’s strength, i.e. his already considerable body count, as well as success in dealing with dissidents. Trump has said so often enough.

What would US do if Russia put troops and missiles in Venezuela and Cuba? We already know actually (see Cuban missile crisis).

Tell me if I’m wrong, but I’m sure NATO defences are in the same position as they were 4 or more years ago, so why now ?

It's not about Ukraine (with its ruined economy it's not an asset, but a liability). It's about Russia long-term security. Putin said that he didn’t need negotiations, he needed results. No more NATO expansion, no more NATO militarization of Eastern Europe, no more NATO attack systems in Eastern Europe, no more broken promises (not one inch eastwards etc.) He has a point, but US establishment doesn't understand language of reason and never keeps promises. The only thing that can bring US establishment to its senses is nuclear-tipped supersonic missiles that can incinerate Washington DC in 5 minutes. US establishment (as a retired serviceman, I was part of it) is so corrupted by decades of crazy dollar printing, that it lost connection with reality (as if Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Yugoslavia debacles weren’t enough). Along with absolutely crazy domestic policies (the best example is that nobody really cares about curbing soaring inflation and ousting all Keynesian lunatics with their negative real interest rates from the Fed) this is driving America into the ground. American democracy with its checks and balances proved to be pretty brittle and was destroyed by bad money. I'm a patriotic American and it's all very sad.

"Incredibly provocative" ? I was bored to death. 90% of time he talked about Russian internal issues and then answered 2 questions from West media that they ask him on every conference.

Putin is the literal saying little people like to be loud. His country is almost in ruins already without help from our country attacking if needed. People want him out and their rights back. Good lesson to learn huh. Russians are great people and are getting desperately tired of his crap.
