I love that the driver just has her back this entire scene

As a writer myself this scene made me cry! My character's are such a part of me and P. L. Travers, bless her heart, when you read her books you understand! They are children's books by genre but she writes with such depth, so much heart and soul and truth goes into her Mary Poppins.
Yes. They were for the promise breakers. They were so much more for adults.

I am so happy to have seen this. Ralph standing up to Mr Disney carried so much weight. It established him as a sincere, honest 'speak truth to power' man, while also establishing a bond with Mrs. Travers. The entire scene was too long though. That whole bit with Mr Disney pushing so hard, and some of her responses gave away too much, too soon. It hits the audience over the head with the forthcoming knowledge that she is not actually Mrs. Travers. I think that bit with the travel itinerary in the office was well suited to the reveal.

Why'd they cut this out? It kinda helps Walt understand that she was referring to her father, but....what is it too emotional or something?

I don't think anyone ever treated Walt more poorly than she ever did.

I know Travers came off as a hard ass. But I can relate to her. Ive worked hard, pouring everything I have into a project and have had a hard time letting anyone else in. Universal Parks has offered to review, but I have had a difficult time bringing myself to let them see it because I dont want it becoming a limited brand that wont let me grow and expand. So I get why she was so attached to Mary Poppins.

He calls her "Emma" at 1:31.  This scene should have remained in the movie.

I think it was a good decision for this scene to be cut. It takes away the subtlety of each characters emotions.

My folks remember watching Mary poppins when they were little kids . My mom told me when she saw the movie she said Mary came to save mr banks not the children . And my dad he loved the story himself when he saw Mary poppins .

Giamatti is so adorable in this movie.

And to think this was the same year he played a heartless slave-dealer i 12 Years a Slave.

this scene didn't allow Disney to figure it out for himself ( she planted the seed by saying "him") and later explain how his own experience  of hurt could be transformed to joy through imagination. and the balls of the limo driver! didn't disney hire him?

I can see why they left this one out. We r missing why the driver stands up to him but it is an interesting insight into the driver.

While most people would absolutely honored and elated to meet and work with Walt Disney, P.l Travers is quite possibly the only person in history who did not have those exact feelings.

When all you've known is pain, letting go of it feels like letting go of yourself.

The scene was probably cut because theirs too many inconsistencies. It's a powerful emotional scene but too much is being said but not finished. It's like every sentence doesn't have an ending or explanation.

I love that Ralph stood up for Travers, even from Walt Disney who is very respected.

I loved that scene. I wish they would have kept that in the movie.
