Those modern houses without tress or shrubbery of any kind remind me of white padded rooms. Good idea to add some kind of plant just for your eyes to look at at least

Metal edging to prevent grass from growing, use industrial weed barrier instead of the fabric kind. If you use mulch that will decompose down and possibly provide a bed for weeds above your barrier. On some jobs we rubber mulch as it doesn’t fade or decompose, if you use that in addition to the other things mentioned you’ll have a bed without weeds that looks brand new for 5+ years with no maintenance.

Don’t mulch over weed block, it’s only for stone. Mulch decomposes and weed will grow in it if you use weed block. You have to maintain a nice edge on the mulch to prevent grass from encroaching

To stop the grass, you need a barrier. Even if its just a little plastic barrier, it'll slow it way down.
Looks good!
Do a soil sample on the soil. It'll tell you what you need to fix. 🎉GOOD LUCK!

You're one of the first creators that I'm actually keeping up with. Been doing a lot of yard stuff. Feel like we're both on the exact same journey lol

I’d use that excess grass to transplant into dead areas in the yard. Works great for me especially in high traffic areas where it’s hard to get seed to take.

Get rid of the weed block (mirco plastics) and add a border (bricks, stones) and weed quack it when it grows onto the border and plant native species in between those plants you planted

You can use landscape edging. it can be picked up at any hardware store. It will give you a smooth edge to follow with a lawn edger. Then use rock to cover the area you dont want grass.

You can put rocks or wood chips, as long as you add a good 2cm on top of the old wood chips every year you should be fine. If you cut the weed before flowering you won't have any problems and pick the small sprout whenever you can

Dig a small trench canal the thickness of a wall not very deep.

Fold some rebar, bind it with some metal wire in the shape of a wall and place it inside the shallow “trench”.

Take wood and make a strong mold for the concrete around the rebar so that the metal is buried in its core. The reinforced wall should be closed like a pool of sorts with an open bottom so that it doesn’t put pressure on the house and lets water drain.

Mix 60% cement and 40% course sand and add some fiberglass reinforcement if you wish. Or do as the cement instructions tell you, so you make the strongest concrete with the manufacturer’s instructions. You can add different hardeners but its a waist of money, just pour and let it sit and dry for the first 24-48h and then if its really really hot and dry outside lightly water every couple of hours for a day or two until the core dries.

The reason you water it if the outside dries very fast and hardens you want to very lightly moisten it so it doesn’t crack when the inside pulls it in. You don’t want to pour water directly on it or pour ti much so not to dissolve the concrete. If you think it’s too complicated just let it dry naturally without adding water and it will most likely turn out grate.

After 2 days remove the wood and let it dry one more day before applying hydro insulation to the inside, you can use thick granite tiles to place on top of the wall so that the rain doesn’t drip on and ruin the concrete over the years it will also make it look way better, and you can use thinner granite tiles to cover the outside wall facing the garden.

When its all done that plant bed is basically indestructible and can last hundreds of years, if its thick enough and if the concrete is mixed and cured well, specially if those granite slabs are protecting it if will probably be there for generations to come.

Bendaboard would work to keep grass off your planter beds for years and you can edge easy

Put down some landscaping edging to create a barrier from the grass and fabric u put down

You need a trench. Stab straight down for the outside edge, and then stab at an angle for the inside. I would have skipped the plastic tarp too. Just edge it once a week and it looks beautiful, and is free. No plastic tarps or edging needed. Redefine it the next year.

You can get small rocks and use this stuff that keeps them glued together and down

Add a metal edge in between the grass and dirt and then fill the dirt space with mulch or rock

Thought I was the only one who threw caution out the window and did things like this barefoot

Looks like a warm season grass? Youll want to dig and bury the edging partially (or bury the footer if it's that type of edging). This way, the rhizomes through which your grass spreads underground will not penetrate the bed. Youll only have to manage the stolons through which your grass spreads above ground.

Endless summer hydrangeas…nice. Fabrics crap though unless you plan on using decorative stone. pre emerge it, spray it and pull the weeds. You’ll know what your soils like depending on the hydrangeas colors you can change them. Good luck.

So I have a small tip maybe for u or not. When weed whacking or cutting grass u usually lose sum of the clippings into the bed my advice. Throw sum Preen down on top of the weed block before u mulch. Next use jumbo cobble around the bed as and edge but leave the cobble 3 to 4 inches up out of the ground then try to keep ur grass a little lower then the cobble stone this way it will prevent clippings going into ur beds also defining the bed with a little character

Use a metal (or plastic) garden border to stop the grass from spreading.
