That's a really smart way of taking someones trash and turning it into something useful for catching fish. I probably would have thrown it away because im not really thinking about using the leftover lures or rigs that got snapped off, but that's a nice way to make it useful!

I don't understand the logic to ban _"snagging"_ by hook when there are people casting nets that practically snag fish.

Almost everyone seems to unquestionably follow them which is quite rare. As far as rules go.

Always good to be able to reuse lost tackle, I used to pick up a fair bit fishing off the rocks and most of it was in surprisingly good condition!

there’s something so rewarding about finding a lost lure or piece of gear that comes in clutch and you catch a fish on it ( and you are cleaning up the environment! )

Personally when I was a kid I used a slice of hot dog weenie to catch the fish. Never took less than 10 seconds to get a bite

I scavenge for rigs and lures under docks and by rocky spots. You can find some expensive lures and baits that way.

Used to fish for salmon at Tippy Dam in Michigan. They are not eating this time of year. Everyone snags but at that time (70s) the hook could only be 3/8 " from point to shank. Trying to hook a big fish with that small of hook is challenging at best. Dad and my uncle casted/made those snag hooks and sinkers, 3/4" from point to shank. I was fishing about 20 yards down when i look over and a lady in green was talking to dad while holding the hook. They walk back up to the car and after a while she heads off. I walk up and i can hear dad cussing to high heaven. The game warden took all the illegal hooks and just gave him a ticket. She let him keep the rods and tackle so that was a plus.

Nice fish. I like striped bass. We got one a few years back right around 30 inches. Baked it with breadcrumbs, parmesan, lemon, salt, and pepper. Served with pasta and veggies. Came out real good.
