Imagine someone coming to your door being like "Random mattress inspection" and going to jail for cutting off the tag 💀

You should still keep the mattress tags on. Most companies that offer a “sleep trial” will not take back a mattress with no tag. On top of that the tags now contain the majority of the recycling information. A lot of removal services will not take them without a tag because the disposal they take it to need to know what materials they’re working with. -a mattress firm employee for a decade

I work in the furniture industry and cutting that tag off your mattress voids your warranty, so may as well keep it on

The main reason was actually because new mattresses were being filled with stuffing that was from old mattresses and it was causing the spread of Small Pox and Tuberculosis.

I like how he counted horsehair as a weird filler as if it wasn't used for padding in almost all types of cushion at some point.

It is illegal to remove mattress tags in the United States, under penalty of law. The tags typically contain important information about the mattress, such as the materials used, the size, and safety warnings. This information is required by law to be included on the tag in order to ensure that consumers have access to important information about the product they are purchasing. The warning that removing the tag is illegal applies specifically to mattress retailers and manufacturers, who are required to leave the tags intact in order to comply with safety and labeling regulations. Removing the tag yourself as an end user is not illegal, although it can still be beneficial to leave it on in case of warranty claims or other issues related to the mattress.

when my mom was a kid she cut off the tag, and then read it. She freaked out, and started crying. She wrote a note to her family, saying she was running away to live on the lamb, and then she realized she’s eight, and didn’t own it, so her parents would go to jail. She waited until three in the morning crying, for her mom to get home from work, where her mom explained it to her.

Horse hair is actually still used in high end mattresses cause it stays firm and won’t flattened, and can be refluffed forever

All mattresses in Canada come with a ten year warranty.... You also need that tag to receive the warranty😊🇨🇦

It didn't always used to say "except to the consumer." It used to read something along the lines of "federal law prohibits the removal of this tag." I don't know exactly when the change was made, but that's completely went people probably still think it's supposedly illegal for even us to remove. That tag has been used as an example of stupid AF laws for so long, I'm positive that's why they finally reworded it to make it more clear.

Many years ago, the tags said "Do not remove this tag under penalty of law" and there was no mention of consumers being allowed to remove them.

Whenever someone complains about excessive regulations show them this video. Companies will do literally anything they’re allowed in order to increase profits.
