My main limit switch failed overnight. I was able to troubleshoot with the help of your videos. I am guessing it overheated due to my filter being dirty. I also had the 4 light error code and the burners never came on. I tried to tap it but that didn't fix it. Unfortunately I had to call the service guy and it set me back 200 bucks. If it wasn't so cold out right now I could have replaced the switch myself but I couldn't wait a couple days for the replacement. Don't forget to change your filters or it could set you back in money! Great channel I have learned a lot in the past 24 hours of troubleshooting!

This video SAVED us a call for HVAC service. We came downstairs in the AM to a cold house. Upstairs was still kind of warm. Checked thermostat and it was stuck at 70° continuously cycling on and off every couple minutes. I had a filter already and was just procrastinating changing it because of the holidays.
I changed filter. Same problem. Panicked a bit. Removed filter and let furnace run just like video stated…🤯everything is back working. Thank you so much for this video!!! Saved me so much $$$

Bingo, baby! 0 degrees here in Denver this morning. My furnace was doing EXACTLY what you described. Pooched-in filter, low airflow, on/off furnace cycling, but not reaching temp [with dog/cat, I'm good about keeping a slightly upgraded filter clean/changed]. Pulled the filter and... AIR! HEAT! Furnace marching like a trooper to a comfy 68 now. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and helping me and other viewers!

just resolved a poorly running electric furnace for my mother in law this morning.. set at 73, only getting to 67. replaced dirty high efficiency 3M filter with a new one and 30 minutes later the thermostat was satisfied and shut off. ur clip is a good one and educational, a lotta folks dont realize how important routine filter changes are and a little bit of knowledge can save you money by avoiding a service call. the service co she called couldnt come for 2 more days so we're pretty glad to have the issue resolved for $10 and a trip over there

One chilly night later...this IS the issue! I pulled the filter out and lo and behold...HEAT! Glorious heat. The filter was quite dirty and the system did warn me to change the filters two months ago and I procrastinated. It's a new furnace just under a year old, too. This video was a wallet-saver! You saved our night! Dropped to -21 today and our furnace was only blowing cold air no matter how high I was setting the temperature. I surrendered to calling the furnace technician in the morning but then watched this video from our freezing bed. Sprung to action and did both of your suggestions and bam! Changing the filter worked!!!! I checked the filter last month when the problem first started, but it didn't seem that dirty so I put it back in. But it was one of those high efficiency filters, so today I decided to replace it anyway and my furnace kicked right on. Thank You!

Currently experiencing sub-zero temps where I live and was about to call a furnace repair, as my furnace was not getting close enough to the temp I had set on the gauge. Changing the filter was exactly what needed done! I’m a single woman renting a private home & all the basic maintenance is on me. So my research asking the question of why my thermostat showed everything was ok & it should have been heating with the heat turned up to 70 - brought me to this video. Woke up this morning with -1 temps outside and heat in the house at 64 lalthough I'd set it to 70. Did what you suggested and sure enough it was the filter. Ran without for a while and also turned off for 5 seconds in case it was locked out. It's starting to warm-up! You just saved me a really expensive Sunday service call. Thanks so much!

THANK YOU AND ANOTHER TIP: My furnace had the same issue, checked the filter and it was very dirty. Replaced it with kirkland 2200 filter and problem did not go away. Did some research and found that my new filter was very dense for my furnace. Switched to light duty MERV 8 Filter and problem was solved. Thanks for making this video.

I have a Bryant 80% single stage furnace that is 16 years old. I replaced the one inch filter in my return duct with a newly installed 5 inch air bear with no problems of restrictions or heat loss. In Michigan this year so far our temps went as low as -12. I change the air bear every 5 months. I have been in the automotive maintenance industry for many many years and fully understand the importance of preventative maintenance of especially filtration in all respects. I enjoy reading all comments and am always in a "learning mindset" when reading comments and replies. Just my thoughts.

THANK YOU so much! Furnace was cycling and I knew to try the filter first but when I took it out it looked fine and wasn't that old then spent hours trying other things and nothing worked. Then I found your video and your two comments that said sometimes it still looks clean and also that it often happens when very cold and since both of those things are currently true I took it out and slipped in a new one and long story short, now I can cancel the repair visit! Thank you!! Exactly 1 month old dirty filter was my problem. Put new filter in, short cycling stop and house started to heat up to my set temperature.
