If you have to manually spin your inducer motor, you have bigger issues.

Your furnace was likely tripping out the limit switch because the filter was so plugged, it wasn't allowing enough airflow across the heat exchanger, therefore causing the limit switch to open, which then shuts the furnace down as a safety precaution.

What you don't understand is that's your draft motor if that's not spinning you can be building up carbon monoxide in your house and what you just told them to do can actually cost somebody their life because you might get it going one time but it when that motor stops again that stops the gas valve from opening so you don't get poisoned you need to be sure of what you're saying before you post it because what you just told people is very dangerous for them to do it could cost somebody their life

One of the goofiest videos on this subject.

Replacement of that inducer motor. Make sure that the inducer sensor is good.

There's an arrow on the filter showing which way the airflow should be going through it. The cold air return flows toward the furnace or, more simply, the arrow should point to the furnace.

HVAC pro here. You should never have to spin your inducer motor. There should always be enough torque for the system to do that itself. If you are having to do that, your problem is likely your motor or your capacitor or both. Don't stick your hands in there. Your problem is airflow and maybe also the inducer motor/capacitor or both.

You might want to get a new draft induce motor if yo have to start it by manually turning it .That is if you can find a part for the old relic And while your at it, have the whole furnace cleaned !!!

I enjoyed your video. You would enjoy taking the HVAC classes or learning about the subject in your own time. Your unit was off on a high limit because the filter was filthy. Changing the filters let it breathe again. The inducer motor, high limit, surface igniter, gas valve, and control board did their job after. Don't go spinning that motor, it doesn't help.

Your gas valve needs adjust on the gas pressure or you have a crack heat exchangers cause it supposed to shoot straight

I agree with Delbert you have bigger issues than a clogged filter.

Don't do what that guy is saying, that part is the inducer motor it can hurt you if you touch it running, it should star automatically.

You flame jumping out like it's doing is majorly wrong. Flame shouldn't be jumping out like that...

You have the wrong kind of filter in your furnace and it's overheating and that's why it's short cycling

You are completely lost. First of all that “spinner thing” is called your inducer. And you’re not supposed to spin it to get it going. Thats because your inducer motor is going bad. That “thing that gets bright” is called your hot surface igniter. Before it ignites your pressure switch has to close which you didnt mention. And from what I see with those erratic flames, it looks like you might have a crack in your heat exchanger. Instead of trying to give people advice, those people just need to call a professional.

This video is ridiculous. He knows nothing about what he is doing.
