Home AC Not Keeping Up or Struggling to Cool Down Enough

preview_player
Показать описание
This is an interesting reason why the AC in the home may not be cooling the house well enough and keeping up with the temperature set point. This is usually more noticeable when the thermostat is unable to reach the set temperature on hotter days. In this particular case, the reason the air conditioner was not keeping up was because the homeowners had the air to air exchanger set to continuous on which resulted in the AC and air to air exchanger cancelling each other out and not working properly.

Reminds us of a case where we had a client that had a window open in a "supposedly" unused bedroom. Ac complaint wasn't cooling. Second law of thermodynamics :Heat transfer occurs spontaneously from higher (hot)- to lower (colder)-temperature bodies but never spontaneously in the reverse direction. * thus the importance of air infiltration (windows), duct leakage, heat transfer and convection, thermal heat transfer (all this is in the manual J) .

My heat pumps do not have that part but it was a very instructional video. I can use that knowledge to help a friend that does have one. Wondering if you already move to Hawaii.

As usual, solid tips. I don't have one of those, but you've proven that often the cure is very simple. The cartoon at the end made me laugh.

We have an old house with no insulation in the walls and just blown in insulation on the attic floor. We have the same problem, set temperature to 74, but when it is more than 85, the AC can't keep up. It will be ok till maybe 1 PM, but then temperature will rise to 76 and will stay there until late at night. We have a high velocity unit in the attic, so when it gets hot the exit air from registers goes up by about 4 degrees. Not sure what can be done. The ac size is ok for the size of space.

Hi, Is it normal to have a gurgling sound when the AC (New Goodman Heat Pump AC unit, new Goodman Air Handler) first starts up? Thank You. It does work well.

Thanks for the informative video. I purchased my home last year and we’ve been having high humidity issues for at least the majority of the time maybe the whole time for all i know.
When i went into the attic to try and deduce what the problem might be i noticed a similar device installed but it wasn’t an air exchanger it was a fresh air supply fan. It appears to not be working at all. Couldn’t even get it into test mode. So i unplugged it and cut some cardboard and blocked off the intake in front of where a filter for it can go. From what i understand this device is supposedly to create positive pressure in my house for my hvac system. Do you think this is a crucial component to my system? Or should my ac and heating work just fine as a negative pressure system? It’s a track home from 2018 in Southern Texas if that helps at all. Also if it is crucial would the whole part you were saying about leaving the air exchanger off for the summer apply to this outside air supply fan as well? Thanks hopefully this question wasn’t too convoluted. lol
