A Simple Rust Effect

In this video Rodders shows you how he painted this rust effect.

After base coating the door with the basic rust colours he should have varnished it before moving on to the chipping medium, however this wasn't a problem on this piece but would suggest you do this.

He has painted two layers of yellow with chipping medium in between to represent a primer layer but you can achieve just as good effect with one layer of yellow. (The door panel at the start of the video only had one layer of yellow)

Materiel's Used:

Vallejo Surface Primer Black
Vallejo Game Air Charred Brown
Vallejo Game Air Scarlet Red
Vallejo Game Air Hot Orange
Vallejo Game Air Moon Yellow
Vallejo Game Air Gold Yellow
Vallejo Satin Varnish
Vallejo Chipping Medium
AK Interactive Rust Streaks
Artists White Spirit
Weathering powders
Stipple Brush
Soft Brush
Airbrush
Water
(Vallejo Thinning Medium was on the desk but wasn't needed!)

That's a great effect. I really like the two yellow layers. That was a genius move. It made the piece look much more realistic. Great job. :)

Thank you General Splatton, I'm really happy with the effect, going to use this on future projects as this was just some practice to try out the technique.
