We need more NIST shorts. I lived about half a mile from NIST in Boulder as a kid (Table Mesa), and I work as a computer engineer nowadays so quite familiar with the NIST encryption standards! Awesome to see more about your work 👍

Another great thing or two to talk about could be the Atomic clock, quantum-safe encryption standards, and food-quality side of things. Pretty cool stuff that most people have never thought about

I’m glad they check all along the tape. I had one bad ruler that was correct at 16”, but it was about 1/8” wrong near the 6” mark.

I worked in research & development for many years and so was familiar with some of NIST’s work. Their contribution to science is, ironically, immeasurable lol. They do fantastic work which benefits the worldwide scientific community.

I grew up doing construction with my father and I've always been a very patient individual with an eye for detail and I use to love comparing our new tape measure with our old ones to see how accurate the marks were. I just love now knowing there's a dream job like this to ensure accuracy of each models!
