South Sudan: the Castaways of the White Nile | Deadliest Journeys

With eleven years of existence, South Sudan is the youngest state on the planet. Who says young nation, says everything to build, everything to create.
For this, the population does not lack courage. It's a setting worthy of the greatest disaster films and yet the floods that have hit South Sudan for four years are very real.
The level of the White Nile has never been so high, entire towns are submerged, local populations are trying to preserve the few islands of land that serve as shelter. Boats have replaced trucks on flooded roads but the journey is not any easier. Sailing on submerged land means facing multiple dangers.

Being a South Sudanese, this is definitely the best documentary I watched about my Country after "DINKA, THE LEGENDARY CATTLEKEEPERS" ON NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC. My country possesses abudant resources that have potential to mitigate any disaster, but the corrupt leaders impeded the country's development. We hope this regime could end in nearest future and good leadership could succeed inorder to rebuild what was left by the war during liberation period instead of destroying what was left by the war.

I have been visiting many places in South Sudan for a couple of years. What I can assure you this country is beautiful adorned with the most resilient and respectful people I have ever come across. I believe one day this country will get out of this misery and will be a shining star in the world, especially for the East Africa Region. This video and other documentaries will serve as witness for the future generations.

South Sudanese people are surprisingly the most welcoming and peacefull people you'll ever meet. I'm Kenyan and my grandmother used to provide food to some South Sudanese family who were refugees as she had a small local restaurant. The family got asylum in some western country and once they were doing well, they helped my grandma build a new house. To be honest I can never forget them wherever they are!

Good to see video on South Sudan, my country, on this channel for the first time. The people are suffering but very resilient and resourceful. I wish the camera crew went to the other parts of the country. The video was made in the areas around Juba, the capital. There is too much disaster and a lot of struggle for survival in the other parts of the country.
