Alan Turing was a visionary, a hero, a victim, and one of the greatest Brits to ever live.

Computer hardware is so unspeakably complex. It is insane how the common person can even afford such technology, which is borderline magic.

"Anyone who uses a computer is truly standing on the shoulders of giants" -one of my professors I think

When I learned how a CPU actually works, it blew my mind. Fundamentally, CPUs are just millions of switches. But they're connected in such a way that they can calculate almost anything. It's so ingenious that computer science could be an art on its own.

The cutscenes always look better than the average gameplay.

And that is only 0, 1% of all Computer Science lore

I am a computer scientist myself, but listen guys, while a lot of pioneers such as the likes of Alan Turing were geniuses, nobody built the Internet and modern computers from one day to another - it was a decades long process of improvement over and over again. It's not a story of a brilliant, marvelous revolution, but one of persistance and improvement. Each individual step on the journey was not necessarily huge on its own, but the sum of all the steps took us where we are today.

Computer science lore : mathematical geniuses coming together to create a theoritical machine into reality

Computer science gameplay : Segment fault, error in line 49 missing semi-colon

Learning comp math really blew my mind. These pioneers had nothing but their brains and their pens to create the fundamental rules of math that goes into computers hundred years later.

As a CS student, this puts a smile on my face..

Programmers in the 1900s : We built the internet with nothing but books to reference, physics and lots of engineering.

Progeammers now : Chat GPT and stack overflow don't have the answer to my code error.

Isn't it magical that we can communicate with each other that located almost the opposite side of the globe while texting and watching video by 'hand-sized mobile device'?
Yeah I think CS is almost like a magic to me

Computer science is so big that no one person could possibly understand all of it. The funny thing is that it's technically still just all under math. There's really not much of a difference between being a computer scientist and a mathematician.

As a computer scientist, this is 100% completely accurate

Some average compute science guy
Oh, jezz, my program doesn´t compile

A math guy during IIWW:
We need to solve how this machine Enigma works or nazis will kill us

It blows my mind how these complex machines work, and I don't even know 1% about them.

I love the book 3 Body Problem. One great scene describes how an alien race used a massive army as a make shift computer, being split into various computing parts and communicating calculations through flags as 1s and 0s.
