I love how creepy the PT and mannequin tricks are. Especially the PT one. Knowing that makes the game so much more skin-crawling.

I was so damn scared when the mannequins in my skyrim home moved for the first time! I was home alone so I could game way later than usual, it was something like 12 o clock and it was almost storming outside. I was just sitting there in my totally dark room endlessly looking for materials and stuff for my house when my mannequin was at a different place than the last time I checked. When I looked at him he started looking at me. Needless to say, I immediately stopped olaying and watched at least 5 episodes of avatar the last airbender before I could sleep.

The LEGO Star Wars “trick” is too funny, it’s really obvious like 90% of the blasts are whiffing like crazy 👌🏼🤣

Mirror reflections where you can see yourself are often a reversed duplicate of the game world and you’re actually controlling two characters.

A developer trick I used to use years ago in the 2D days is I would erase the blue in the water tiles set for my town ChipSets and leave only the moving lines of foam and then set a backdrop of clouds that would pan to the left constantly. Basically you would be able to see through the water and see the moving backdrop but to your eyes it looked like a reflection of the clouds moving on the water.

I was so proud of my self when I learned how to do this.

I love how in shadow of the colossus, even to this day, that even though the game world really isn't all too big, it sure feels like it. The level design and art style (being so open end empty) really give you the sense of being very small in this massively expansive world. I will now start a new game, have a good day.

As a Harvard Neuroscientist, I can vouch that our brains can be tricked easily in so many ways, and not just in video games. I'm currently developing vids focused on the hardcore neurobiology of how to leverage our brains 🧠 to improve our lives (and not get tricked so often). So sub in the interim if interested. Details verifying my background and affiliations can be found in my "about" section. Cheers.

There's that train in fallout 3 that is a NPC wearing a hat. So when it moves it's basically a NPC running from point a to b lol

Oh man, Now I want a Skyrim mod that gives all the mannequins backstories and secret lives while I'm out of the house :D

The one about PT is actually how I feel IRL after watching a horror flick.

All cars in GTA are NPCs. I've seen more than once police vans WITHOUT DRIVERS moving around. They stop if you manage to force them against a wall and take over the wheel.

A mod recreates Knight Rider and you can command the car to follow you around even if you are in another vehicle.

And your arms flail at the steering AFTER THE WHEELS. You basically BECOME a car when you drive one.

The view from the apartments is also a viewport, like a CAD rendering.

This is the first time I've heard a journalist acknowledge Lance McDonald by name. Appreciate you giving the man credit. 👍

League of Legends has this trick where you can report a player for griefing your team, but its just there to make you feel like you're getting justice but it never actually does anything.

In Mario they also let you move more to the left side on the screen in ghost-mansions. Because you are used to move to the right this feels akward. Wich is the point of the ghost mansions.
