Gyarados ex has arrived with the latest mini-set for pokemon tcg pocket and he feels pretty strong! I do wish his effect was a little bit less random or self destructive, but all in all he feels quite powerful! We're also using the new Vaporeon so that we can move all our energy around very quickly and easily! I only go with one vaporeon because you never really need two on the board, and we already have so many basics as is.

It seems like the Gyarados ability actually looks at all energy in play and discards one at random. Meaning the 4 on Gyrados is going contribute alot to that total in most board states.

I've been enjoying an Event Mankey+Fight Back Primeape/Marshadow deck! It also has a Chatot in it, though I'm not certain about that one. Just made it today, but it seems strong! Wanted to share it.

Also, less strong but I've been enjoying it - Melmetals and Butterfrees. It does get me wins sometimes! Like 1/3, 1/4. But it's always lots of fun when it does work!

Yes, starmie works decent. I haven’t pulled gyarados ex yet. Was trying a similar deck list last night with regular gyarados, then tried adding starmie instead of articuno. The new magikarp is absolutely necessary for this to work in either variant.

I would use 2 Druddigon 2 Greninja line for the other stall support. They can wear down cards while you stall and also they aren't EX, saving you points.

I am playing gyarados with greninja and druddigon and 18-0 for me. I roasted every celebi, pikachu etc.

I had solid success on my wife’s account with a Starmie EX + Gyarados EX version of this deck. (She likes collecting more than playing, so I play the events to get her more packs haha).

With limited testing, it felt like maybe you only need one Magikarp, as opposed to one Eevee.

1. Eevee’s high roll potential sets her apart as a pretty great basic, and the deck feels like the early Vaporeon is what makes it work.

2. Magikarp lives up to its reputation of being the absolute worst. I hilariously lost a match on turn 2 where Magikarp was my only basic and my opponent played Gio on a simple 20 damage attack.

I agree with Giovani over Potion. I split the stall pokemon between one Articuno EX and one Lapras. I know everyone is high on the Drudiggon x Greninja shell for this deck, but it just feels better elsewhere for me.
