Garys discard ability isn't a 50/50 btw. It considers every energy in play not just what Pokemon have energy. So for the last one it saw 5 energy and chose one randomly which is an 80% self discard and 20% opp discard. It'll most likely self discard due to how much energy is on it skewing the odds.

Edit: it also looks like it'll count the energy on the Pokemon it knocks out when choosing an energy to discard so some of the times in the video it actually discarded energy from the dying pokemon when picking up the final point

The energy discard is based on total pool of energy including the fainted mon. So its only 50/50 if your total energy and the opponent are the same.
Example: You only have a Gyarados with 4 energy, and opponent has a Mew with 2 energy and a benched Mewtwo with 2 energy. In this scenario the odds are 50/50

Gyarados EX is the strongest deck at the moment. I'm using the Vaporeon/Lapras variant and have 70% win rate and had at least a 12 win streak. It eats up Celebi and solidly beats Mewtwo if you pull Giovanni at some point. It can even beat Pikachu if they don't Zebstrika the Magikarp on the bench.

That’s one thing I’ve noticed with using your last Gyarados deck which I love by the way. Majority of the time the “random” energy lost is always my own.

Built this deck and first battle I go up against someone who is using the same exact deck named Saka lol was level 39 and we both had good starts but I got a good roll with misty got my second Gyarados EX out both with 4 energies and he was slowly hitting my Gyarados on bench with water shuriken. The moment I pulled out the other one he conceded immediately. Was my 30th win in the new event not with Gyarados deck as I just used it first time after seeing this video but with a mix of new Blaine deck, Celebi, and Aerodactyl golem deck you have. They have done me wonders

Thanks for the daily decks and helpful tips. As a "free" casual player from the start, I feel this game still works really well. Open 2 packs a day, not got all the big name cards (especially Mythical Island so far... no Gyarados yet!) but still able to build fun and competitive decks. Pikachu ex a personal fave, and the feeling when a tanky meta deck gets a beat down from my pigeon and ninja frog is gold! Cheers and GGs 😁

misty should be reworked to be like moltres for balance sake. flip 3 coins and gains energy for each heads. so u wont get robbed for using her and not getting any energy or flip 9 heads and get 9 energies
