Bait Finesse is here to stay! The trend of throwing finesse lures on ultralight bait casting equipment instead of spinning rods is sweeping the US! There are plenty of anglers who still enjoy spinning tackle, but the number that are switching over to BFS bait casting setups is staggering!

Since bait finesse is a budding concept in the US market we're taking the time to show you how we adapt these setups to Summer time fishing. From topwater, to underspins, to flukes, you can target bass with a variety of ultralight presentations and have a ton of fun this Summer!

Below you'll find links to the exact baits and gear discussed in the video. We've included our favorite colors for the lures, as well as some of our favorite rod and reel combos for these techniques. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

I legit love the Dobyns bfs system I got from an earlier video. it put me back close to $400 but I've caught so many fish on it already. I'm jungle punching the grass now but i'd recommend it to everyone if its in the budget.

You should throw in the spark shad/okashira screw head combo with the swimbaits. I’ve caught more fish on this than anything else I throw.

Another great video guys!

BFS topwater (the whopper plopper 60, the Sammy 65, and the gunfish 68) have been key to winning kayak tournaments in Florida 🤫🎣

Been doing bfs for over 17 plus years. Light tackle has always been my preferred bring out the best fight on any species.

Hey Tim thanks to you and Matt I am 100% committed to BFS fishing. I had been away from the sport for over 15 years so I had to start from scratch. After learning about BFS I decided this would be an ideal opportunity to buy gear that is dedicated to small baits and light line. In other words I wanted to put the fun back in my fishing. I am relegated to fishing from the bank so catching any size fish needed to be enjoyable. Now that I've played around with BFS I've opened up a whole new world of adventure fishing small bodies of water that I would have never fished before. I've got a couple of Dobyns Sierra Finesse combos paired with the Curado BFS reels. The 650 and 691 make for a good one two punch for hard and soft baits respectively. I have found that the JDM baits are phenomenal for this technique. Great Hunting, Megabass's trout brand, makes some really cool jerkbaits. I've been smoking river smallmouth on these tiny jerkbaits all fished on casting rods. So fun!!!! Thanks for showing me the way!

Those little Shimano 39 Macbeths are excellent baits. I have caught many bass this spring on them. One word of caution, don’t carry lots of them in your tackle box. If your tackle box gets real hot in the sunlight, the little Macbeths will expand in the extreme heat and split wide open. Try to keep these baits in the shade in a cool area of your boat, truck or automobile. Just carry a couple, don’t bring a dozen. Fish catching baits. Great video. BFS is fun.

I just started throwing that 77 sized shower blows. I'm running it pretty well I think on my slx 6'10" med with a slx 70 mgl. That combo is money.

I never really got into finesse fishing, mostly because I don't like using spinning gear. I picked up a spinning setup just to get started but I definitely want to upgrade and do some BFS fishing. I'm eyeing that Cashion BFS rod with a Curado BFS. I use a Cashion swimbait rod for my rats and I love it. I also have the Cashion Element spinning rod that I use for drop shots and I'm a big fan of that, too. I'll probably end up replacing most of rods with Cashions.

I have been using simple 6 pound test monofilament line. It casts a mile on a BFS reel. A Megabass Okashira swimbait head and small swimbait cast a long ways.
