Bait Finesse! Have you tried it yet? Nothing will turn a tough day on the water around faster than a BFS setup and some micro baits. A day full of tiny fish that would normally be a "tough day" is suddenly a blast! Its hard to explain just how fun this method of finesse fishing is until you try it for yourself, but if you're ready to change your fishing for the better, its time to try Bait Finesse!

Bait finesse isn't new. Its been around in Japan for decades and has slowly trickled into the US over the past 10 years. However, the arrival of the Curado BFS reel last year kicked the Bait Finesse movement into high gear. If you primarily catch smaller bass, fish small bodies of water, or your fish are heavily pressured, turning to BFS can completely change your fishing for the better!

While there are very few "BFS Baits" there are a lot of awesome finesse baits that work well for Bait Finesse Fishing. Below you'll find links to our favorite rods and reels for the technique, along with many of our favorite baits by category. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Thanks for taking the time to shake my hand and talk to me yesterday at the East Tennessee Fishing Show. Keep up the good work.

I knew from the title exactly what the video was going to be about. Making bass fishing more fun was the entire reason I got into BFS, there are big fish in my fisheries but the majority are 2-4lbs. And let me tell you, loading up on a 3lbs bass with a lite rod and lite line on finesse baits makes it immeasurably more fun.

Couldn’t agree more with everything you said in this video. BFS makes catching smaller fish so much fun. I’ve even caught lots of crappie and panfish with this. Started out with the spark shad okashira screw head and haven’t looked back since. One of my favorite videos ever! Great video! Thanks guys!

I’ve been throwing BFS for 2 years now and enjoyed catching bass, perch and panfish with it. Makes a blue gill feel like a 2 pound bass! 😊

Powerful method of catching them when power fishing plays out. Also, puts the fun back into outings. Thanks Tim.

Wow, my new favorite technique! You explained it exactly how it is. I went to the extreme and sold most of my spinning gear and bought the Aldebaran and Dobyns rods and reels. So far my best fish was a 9lb. channel cat that took a 1/8 oz. Blakemore Roadrunner when I was fishing for bass. I was using 4lb. Sunline FC Sniper and it took awhile but I landed the cat and was exhausted afterwards. Those Dobyns 740 rods are just right!! I don't mean for this to sound like an advertisement but this equipment works so well. Thanks for covering BFS and letting others in on the most fun fishing technique in a long time.

I love BFS.! My biggest bass of ‘22 came on a 4” finesse wormz on a 1/8oz tungsten TX rig with a 1/0 hook. Went 5.2 lbs. so much fun!

It was Awesome meeting Matt yesterday at the Tennessee Fishing Expo. I was bummed when he said that I missed you, Tim, by less than an hour. But if you're anything like him, which I bet you are, you guys are so chill and real. It was an absolute pleasure 😁👍

I have a 8-15 lbs medium casting rod sitting in the closet because it didn't know what reel to pair it with. and i never thought of using a baitcaster for small z-man trd crawlz or a 2.75 paddle tail swim bait. This video has shown me the light! Thank you!

Built a 7' 0 power Bfs rod off a NFC blank over the holidays, haven't gotten on the water with it yet. No so kicked on the Zephyr reel casting around the yard a little, but it will send it.

Thanks to you guys, I’ve bought a BFS last year. Have had a great time with it!

Yep this is the year for BFS for us as well. Game changer for smaller fish . And all our lineup of baits is more finesse so this gear throws awesome on them. The gear is so light it’s unreal, feels like yur holding a twig . We’ve found that 4lb line actually gets more bites as well .

Picked up a daiwa gekkabijin and Cashion bfs. Can’t wait for spring. Great setups for Canadian bass.

Just got my first BFS set up and got the dobyns 701 i think and kast king reel. Used it for crappie fishing on KY lake and had a blast smiling ear to ear. It felt like bass fishing using the bait casting reel but catching crappie! I was using 7lbs sniper and a 3/32 oz jig head with crappie 2" plastic baits. So much fun!! Can't wait to catch a big bass on the set up.
