Incredible picture of Surtr.

Comparing this to the Greek myths, I just want to say, I find myself prefering the mystic, honorable stories of Asgard than I do the in-your-face, shameless stories of Olympus. The only Olympians that weren't murderous, vengeful, jealous and rapey were Demeter, Hestia and Athena (Arachne being an exception). The rest of them were assholes, truly. As for the Asgardians, they mostly play tricks and pranks on one another and other races. It's great! Also, how the Norse stories expand on the other races, mainly the Giants, I just absolutely love.

I can't help but wonder if the first story on here is talking about 536 AD or some older natural catastrophe.

Are history or I should say even the concept of our modern version of History was only started by a Greek, that form of recording events wiped out oral History besides the Norse men. I have a feeling there were great Civilizations in-between these ice ages. When whole continents move 1, 000s of miles, where would the evidence be of a great civilization. Atlantis is only one example. I believe mankind has been around far longer than we believe

I dont get the difference between aesir and jottun. according to this story, both were formed by nature. Ymir from dew and bur from a Cliffside so im assuming stone.

Also Odin is part jottun. so seriously, what's up with the tension
