I actually saw this "wirkin" in person. At a far glance. Yes, they look similar to a birkin, but I wouldn't waste my $79 on it and convince myself it's even close to a birkin replica. As for Hermès I was done playing their game a long time ago. There are way too many hermes bags in pre loved markets, especially in tax-free Japan.

It is amazing what Hermes have done with a bag that is essentially quite ugly, boring to look at and very common.

I have a couple of birkin dupes, both leather, and I love them. They're well made and wear very well. Even if I had the money, I'd not play Hermès' game. I'd have a talented craftsman make bags of our own creation.

It is a brilliant marketing strategy. I grew up in Soviet Union and back then there pretty much everything was sold under the same exact strategy: you were happy at a chance to buy anything of value. So I agree with you about everything except the impossible to replicate part. It is very much possible to replicate, just not in the way people would want it.

This is the exact technique used with diamonds. Just enough are trickled into the marketplace by De Beers to make them always appear rare and exclusive. They are common as, but the middle class fall for it.

No matter how well made they are, it’s not worth the criminally high price they go for. It’s greed and materialism to a disgusting degree. Sadly, in the USA such purses that were extremely well made used to be easy to find, but not anymore. There were even off-brand luxury bags sold at regular department stores that were affordable and were extremely well made of the finest stitching and leathers. If I only knew one day they would no longer exist.

Currently making my own. Came across Babylon Leather. It's a lot of fun putting it together but I do have decades of sewing experience. Even if I could afford it, I woukd not play the Hermes game. I feel its degrading.
