Inside Afghanistan’s healthcare system on the brink of collapse

In Afghanistan, the healthcare system is on the brink of collapse.

Thousands of health workers have fled, while obtaining medicine has become increasingly difficult with international funding withdrawn from the country after the Taliban seized power.

And the hot summer months are having a devastating impact on food supply because of drought, which means more patients than ever - especially children - are suffering from severe malnutrition.

Filmmaker Marco Salustro has been in Helmand province observing the desperation of both patients - and the staff struggling to help them.

I absolutely appreciate the situation here and my heart goes out to them, but we need telling about the dire situation of our own NHS and why it’s the Goverbment AIM to crumble our own “world beating” healthcare system.

Thank you channel 4 for important report. The situation in Afghanistan is so difficult after the Taliban takeover and is getting worse. I know a couple of friends from Afghanistan and the situation for everyone is severe, especial for young girls and women...and huge problem to find jobs for men to get food on table. The situation needs to be put high up on the global agenda! Situation is dire!

Alhamdulilah the Brave Taliban defeated the American Invaders. The situation is much better than it was during the American occupation.

There is no crime, Afghan civilians live in peace and don't have to worry about American drone strikes wiping out their entire village.

Now Aghanistan is actually ruled by Afghans who know the languages and customs of the people.

The only reason there are still problems is because of American economic sanctions. The Americans are also trying to prevent medicine and aid from entering Afghanistan.

Since the Americans realised there is no way that they can defeat the Afghans on the battlefield, they resort to economic sanctions and propaganda.

The Americans ran away like chickens. American soldiers are cowards who only join the army for salary. We Muslims are brave warriors who fight to protect our people and defend our honour and we don't mind being martyrs.
