Directional Derivatives (Calculus 3)

This Calculus 3 video gives an introduction to directional derivatives and explains how to calculate a directional derivative. We show you how level curves and the gradient give us a start to understanding the directional derivative at a point in the direction of a vector, and we explain the formula for a directional derivative. We then work three difference examples of finding the directional derivative at a point in a particular direction, with the last example using a function of three variables.
