I’m glad you did cover the actual Import function. Its really the best way to bring in audio. There can be other gotchas from drag and drop. Especially if you’re using audio based tempo changes.

there's also another way. You drag the files to PT (I usually drag to TRACKS window if I'm starting a session). Then you press option + i (workspace) and choose your session on the left. select all audio files, right-click and choose "move and relink"

Avid still haven't turned that on by default in the latest releases? Surely, there must be enough users posting/filing support tickets about missing files dialogs, or just indicating that they would prefer it to be checked by default over the years? You have to listen to your clients and what they prefer.

Always drag audios to the audio files folder of the session, always. And if it is a new session and there is no “audio files” folder or it does not exist, created it.
