I own a 2020 Limited XT and am waiting on a 2024 (I'll pick it up this coming Friday). Overall very happy with the car, here are the negatives: Head unit will sometimes freeze for 5-10 minutes and then reboot, annoying but happens only once every 2-3 months (ie. 3-4 times a year). Start/stop function is very annoying, it will start on its own despite still having my foot on the brake, every time it re-starts the car shudders (the boxer engine configuration is the principle cause for the shudder). Having a 360 camera on the limited and Touring is kind of essential to keep up with the competitors. Remote start is a $700 option (in Canada). It should be included and work off the existing key fob and not require a second fob. The steering wheel round hub with logo has been around for a long time (come on guys, give us something new, flat bottomed and modern). The unlock button on the key fob sits out from the fob, how many times have I have returned to my car to find it unlocked because while putting it in my pocket the button bumped against a house key and pressured the button enough to enable the unlock function (key fob needs a new design and remote start).

Having said all that, it has been reliable, great in the snow and very practical. I love the rear seat back releases from the trunk. The headlights are very strong, the roof rack system is very handy, power is really good (turbo) and drive is quiet and stable. I've had two legacy's and now on my second Outback, the fit and finish on the inside (minus the drab steering wheel hub design) is very upscale. Cars are getting expensive (as is everything else, inflation has increased prices around the entire world). When compared to present day prices of the competition, I believe that the Outback offers very good value. Let's hope a hybrid model comes soon (maybe that will help with the start up shudder).

Gotta love a car that still includes a CD player! Thanks Subaru :)

You keep saying to find a place to store the tonneau cover. There is a slot between the Jack and Tow Rings under the mat. Check it out!

Have same Touring I bought in 2022...
Handy vehicle and it's a pleasure to drive. Cost me with tax and dealership fee $38.600. Subaru in Florida. Only thing I don't have is charging pad.

I found a 2023 just like that one there. Went home to get my wife and by the time I got back to the dealer, someone had showed up 5 minutes earlier and bought it. I found another one, but it had the black interior. However the one I had just found is also fully loaded, for about the same money and half the mileage. I pick it up in a few days.

Why do none of the videos show how to pop the trunk? 🤔

Picking up my 2025 in Crystal Black Silica and Java Brown tomorrow! You forgot to mention the reclining rear seats!

There is a spot under the rear hatch to store the cargo cover. Right above the spare tire

Coming from a 2018 touring with the Java brown interior that two toned approach is a bit jarring. I guess I could get use to it.

You should mount the camera a little further down during the driving sequence, so the rear view mirror doesn’t obscure our view of the road.

Subaru spelled back words is Urabus! with emphasis on bus! That is why I brought this Outback Base Model!

Excellent review as always Mike. While 45K is pricey. I believe it is still cheaper than a comparable equipped. Santa Fe or Edge/Explorer. I do agree that a 360 degree system should be standard on the Touring Outback like it is on the Ascent. I love that feature on my 23Tucson Limited! Perhaps when my lease is up Subaru will add that feature and I will get the Outback. Until then I am very happy with the Tucson!

Too much black molding around the whole car exterior.

This is fabulous! I want this car badly. Do you gift wrap? Saving my shekels. Thanks for an insightful, informative review! <3 Subaru!

You forgot to show that it also has a front camera and the X-mode.

I would prefer that the mirror caps be paint white to match the body. Beautiful interior with the Java brown. Nice infomat screen. Would like a flat bottom steering wheel. The only problem with the 2.4-liter turbo engine is the need to use 91-octane gas, which adds up quickly with a lot of driving, especially here in California. Our 91-octane gas is knocking on $6.00 a gallon. A fantastic vehicle and worth every penny. Thanks for another review, Mike.

Any idea when the 2025 touring XT is going to be available?

Is there a heads-up display? What about heated steering wheel?
