While I agree that the turbo is more fun, it's considerably more expensive to buy and run. The wilderness is neat if you'll actually spend significant time climbing sketchy off-road trails. For most of us who drive to work and the grocery store, it seems unnecessary. The limited or Onyx 2.5 hit that sweet spot of features, capability, style, and cost, in my opinion. I know we Americans want to have a vehicle that tells everyone how self-sufficient and capable we are, but few of us actually use our vehicle's full potential. We could stand to be a little wiser with our money.... In my opinion.

I live in flagstaff and everyone I talk to that has a Subaru loves theirs. I see CROSSTREK and OUTBACKs the most and they always seem to be out on the trails on well.

Bought a 2023 Touring non turbo. Good car, plenty of power for normal driving. We don’t tow and have been getting 29-30 MPG.

Am I the only one that hates these huge obtrusive touchscreens? It sucks that only the base model will have smaller screens.

I have the 2024 ob wilderness, comfortable, higher ground clearance, better responsive gearing, sound system, heated wheel-seats, tow capacity, soft ride. I like it very much.

Thanks for a great video, you were able to make it crystal clear on the models and said more in 5 minutes than all the other videos that take 15 minutes each.

Just bought a 24 loaded wilderness for the wife, knew nothing about Subaru's but liked the wilderness overall. Past 50-years always drove (still do) Ford Trucks and the wife Toyota's,

Got the Geyser blue Wilderness with Navy, moonroof, RAB, ETC. Great car and faster then the other XT models due to gearing of the transmission.

Your recommendation towards the end is the best part of the video, except I have the 2023 Wilderness (in Geyser Blue!), picked her up last December and we absolutely love it! 😊

The Limited also comes standard with the harmon kardon system.

Would like a Wilderness with ventilated seats. To get the Touring with turbo and ventilated seats is a huge price jump. Too bad they only offer the ventilated seats on the Touring.

For where I live I and what my needs are I would prefer the more powerful engine for hauling and hills.

Looked into a Crosstrek but the cargo area was way to small to hold much. May work for two people packing light. For a family or people who like to pack for the beach or have kids I think the Outback is a better fit.

We bought the Touring XT with the brown leather. My wife wanted the Wilderness whereas I wanted leather and ventilated seats. I won! We are getting a set Fifteen52’s in bronze and at 17” wheels like the Wilderness in size. I don’t like black wheels. We may lift it an inch or so. We love ours. The XT is a must. It’s pretty quick and does ok on fuel efficiency.

It seems the lower fuel economy rating of the Wilderness is not due so much to the AT tires as it is to the “revised transmission gearing and a shorter final drive ratio for improved low-speed climbing – up to a 40% grade.” (From Subaru’s website).

I have a 2019 3.6 with a CVT. The transmission simply cannot handle the torque of the larger engine. You can hear it slip slightly before the computer shuts down the engine to save the transmission. Probably be fine wit the smaller motor.

I used to own a 2006 Outback. The only thing I did not like is that it leaked oil and the A/C was inadequate. Has Subaru fixed those two issues?

Bought the Limited XT recently, absolutely will never return to an American brand maker again.

360° heated steering wheel, that sounds hot!

Could you do a price comparison between the 2023 trims and the 2024 trims?

Looking to buy our third Outback and the Limited XT might do the trick. Unlike some others here we enjoy the powered tailgate and heated seats. Admit we are an older couple living in Maine so we really don’t need it for off road but do need a vehicle excellent in the snow. May try to find one with a moon roof. Thanks for the video.
