Man that explanation you gave at 3:16 was amazing. I never realized simply walking tenths made it sound so "true" so to speak. And the way you added in the right hand was awesome

0:00-0:18 Tasty as fuck dude, that's the sound I want to get in my ballad and standards playing. One of my long term goals is to be able to seamlessly transition between the different styles of jazz piano throughout a performance. Eg. going from rubato Bill Evans kinda intro to Erroll Garner style head then bebop then stride at the end of solo.

I'm struggling to play jazz and this video was really helpful. I always wanted to learn how to play stride, you are really clear in your explanations. Thank you!

Now I think that I could eventually teach myself to play tunes like Ain' Misbehavin, Satin Doll and similar pieces at a moderate tempo.

is there a substitude for tenths? My Hands are literally too small for it - octave, no problem. Very unfortunate because tenths sound arewome!!

Hey Noah! Isn't it always the very simple devices that are overlooked??? That one little technique of using tenths in the left hand produced a quantum leap in my understanding of how to produce that seasoned sound of a stride player. It's another excellent video. Thanks Will
