This is a brown banded bamboo shark. They are egg layers, the egg being called a purse. They are common in the aquarium trade along with the epaulette shark and the coral cat shark. They typically grow to 4 feet in length with females, as usual, being the larger of the two.
When they grow up and mature they lose the striped banded look and look like a thinner and smaller nurse shark. Making them pretty popular in the trade.

We did this with my step dad's tank when i was young. Banded cat shark and everything. Kept worrying we were making the wrong move by cutting it. Shark out-grew the 80 gallon tank in only a year and a half, i still wonder how the rest of its journey has gone. Good luck
