Just have a warning for Ioniq 5 owners. As you pull into a parking space, pay attention to the front parking sensors.
When it goes off, stop. The front underside of the car has no protection. So if you scrape a tall curb, you may do damage.

I’ve had mine almost one year - 19, 600 miles so far. Absolutely love the car. It is still turning heads when I drive it. I have the limited version in Digital Teal.

Regarding 12 volt battery drain. Turn off the door mirror convenience setting. It fixes the issue. Had Ioniq and Kona. Never had a flat battery since changing the setting.

I've had mine for about a year and agree. Best car I have owned, hands down.

We’ve had our Ioniq 5 SE AWD almost one year and just passed the 10, 000 mile mark. The car has been nearly flawless and is very comfortable and fun to drive. The only flaw has been a faulty USB data port. No problems with the front parking sensors on the SE I5 as there aren’t any. We’ve only done one really extended 1, 200 mile road trip so have only had to use DC charging maybe a dozen times. Mostly we’ve charged at home or at free public Level 2 stations when convenient. Efficiency over the entire 10k miles has been 4.2 miles/kWh. Total cost of charging has been $151. We keep most of our vehicles an average of ten years and expect to have the I5 that long.

Just passed 1 year and 25K kms mark here in Canada with a RWD.
A couple of things we discovered/found useful:
1. using the frunk for the 110V charging cable helps when wanting to plug in overnight at at cottage and you have lots of things in the trunk.
2. the black bezel helps a lot with glare and just generally reducing the visual size of those giant white bezels.
3. driving with the rear window heater on in snowy conditions will keep the rear window more 'transparent'
4. the cloth seats we have are better quality than the regular 'imitation leather' ones

I have had my Ioniq 5 SE AWD eight months and LOVE IT. 22, 000+ miles and no issues with build quality. Had the preconditioning update installed last month and now I'm back to summertime charging rate. I even saw 230+ kW at an upgraded EA station this weekend while it was in the mid 30°'s - AWESOME. Now a challenge - I don't think that you have put together a brake light video - I do believe this is a education opportunity for us Ioniq 5 owners as well as a design opportunity for Hyundai - if you drive exclusively in iPedal and you "feather" your braking, you can nearly come to a complete stop from 60 mph without the brake lights coming on. They eventually do at the point the foot is completely off the accelerator. So to correct that, I am learning the braking paddle game - so using the paddles to brake versus "feathering" the accelerator. Brake lights should be illuminated by 1) brake pedal engaged or 2) rate of deceleration greater than some federal standard and not the position of the accelerator.

I have ioniq 5 for almost a year now at 14000 miles, this is my 3rd car but my first EV, and this is hands down my favorite car to drive. Only complaint i have is the mostly white interior. sometimes when i go to work with little sleep, the interior is WAAAAY to bright when the sun shines in. but other than that, i love the car. it's been a year of driving and I'm still enjoying it. -- BTW charging this at home from work is also perfect since every time i go out, it's 95 to 100% charged. no more gas!! maintenance is super less, no more change oil, spent like $50 on every PMS (lubricated something) on the casa. Hands down after 3-4 years, it's going to be a cheap car if I factor in gas and maintenance (change oils).

Have had mine for about 8 months or so, 10k miles. Only issues so far have been loose trim on the back windshield (Dealer's fault, not installed fully correctly after windshield repair) and i had a weird glitch with the charging port where the button on the charge door wouldn't work and the pixel lights just faintly flashed. That issue got fixed by disconnecting the 12v for like 5 min and reconnecting. Everything else has been great!

Major respect for saying that you'll do long term review instead of days/weeks reviews. Your content has been so helpful. That child door lock was badly planned as its accidentally unlocked when I need it locked. Thanks for all your videos and looking forward to more.

Map updates are really important now to keep the fast DC charging locations updated as the networks expand, enabling the battery preconditioning to be maximised for excellent road tripping.

3 months now with my 2023 AWD SEL and I love it so far! Your videos did a ton to prep me for the car and the first thing I did when the car got home was apply some of the fixes you posted about like swapping out the incandescent bulbs for LEDs. Keep the great content up!

Another in depth and extremely informative review! Awesome and extremely valuable review of the 2022 AWD IONIC 5 SEL. Thanks!

Love the one year review of your Hi5, I think all of your points were spot on. I’ve had 2 dealer installed updates (parking brake recall & preconditioning fix). I really like it for local and highway trips, the preconditioning will make long trips in colder weather more efficient by reducing the time spent charging. My avg efficiency is 3.0 kW/mi - but I do enjoy the acceleration.

I did kill my 12v battery die at a local EV demo event last year, next time I’ll put it in Utility mode to prevent the extra drain on the battery caused by doors left open & lift gate being opened & closed a bunch.

Again - thanks & great work!

Great video, thanks! We got a black SEL nine months ago and have put on 14k miles (4 road trips so far). Barely drive our SUV now. I really agree on a few points: IMO the black plastic on the SE and SEL looks a lot better than the gray on the limited. The car is very fun to drive and relaxing on long trips. Highway assist can be somewhat unreliable and turn off for no reason occasionally. EA is great when it works but it’s not always the most reliable. Preconditioning is fantastic but I really wish we could manually engage it. Keep up the great work!

I’m at 12k miles and due for 1st NYS inspection, and after 2 rotations, rear tires were at 4/32 and front at 6/32. OEM tires not great in snow or rain, so replaced with Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra - hope they work well!

I just bought a 2023 Ioniq 5! So far I really love it! Thanks for your videos. I've learned so much already. This is my first EV, so there is a whole lot to learn. It's not like buying a ICE vehicle where you know what to expect and have a frame of reference. Thanks so much again for taking the time and giving us so much useful info! 👍👍

For the parking sensors with a trailer, just press and hold the button! A menu should come up to disengage the alerts!

Roger on the parking sensors. Waiting in traffic, they act like they have a mind of their own. As for the highway drive assist; ugh. That thing has just quit on me in gentle turn, no ding, no flashing warning ... it just quit. Fortunately, I had my hands on the wheel and was paying attention, as you should be.

Great video, always watch them! I can confirm that I have no issues with the wireless charging pad with my Samsung S22 Ultra. I also use the Motorola MA1 and the connection is stable. Only rarely in some tunnels there is too much interference so the signal drops and automatically reconnects. But didn't happen in some months now. I live in Switzerland and drive the highest trim, bought in Germany.
