here are some tips of how you can open BIOME/SPECIAL Chests' in Terraria;

Tip 1: you should already defeat the Wall of Flesh, which is a Boss that only summons' once you threw a 'Voodo Doll' in lava (Guide npc should be alive or else WOF won't be summoned)

Tip 2: uppon entering Hardmode, kill the Three Mechanical Bosses; which are the Twins, Skeletron Prime and The Destroyer

Tip 3: after defeating all of the mech'bosses, you will now proceed of defeating Plantera, a.k.a Queen of the Jungle. to summon her, you will need to set up a big farm for her "Bulb" to grow, her Bulb will ONLY starts growing/spawing once the mech'bosses have been defeated. use pickaxe to break her 'Bulb' (it doesn't matter which or what type of pickaxe you use ; >)

Tip 4: after defeating Plantera, go to s specific biome from where you'd want" to get the key; example: Desert CHEST: desert caves/caverns, defeat any MONSTERS/Enemies on the Desert to be able to get the Desert Key, which will allow you to open locked Special/Biome Chests' (also do the same to all other chests' too!) :))
