I will be honest I was hating on the cast in the beginning but this scene really changed my mind, the girl playing Sarah had one of the most realistic getting shot/ death reactions. I felt a lump in my throat, amazing acting overall

For a man who has no kids in real life, he did a wonderful job playing a dad. Very talented.

two things that make this scene so good for me:
1. the actress's acting
2. pedro's acting, specifically his eyes as he holds her in his arms

The fact that she panics when Joel tries to move her because of the immense pain is really convincing holy crap

Did anyone realize that when Joel looked away to Tommy, he missed Sarah's last moment? She was already gone when he looked back down.

I think the scene is actually done even more well here - Sarah's realistic reaction to being shot (hyperventilation etc) is even more horrifyingly true to life than the scene in the game. The panic and fear of someone dying in moments is also (even more) authentic. It is a tough scene to watch, but is probably one of the most realistic depictions in a visual medium.

Holy....for the cast that mostly didn't play the game, the directing and writing completely recreated this iconic moment. This is in good hands.

I started bawling my eyes out when Joel cried for Tommy to help him. This scene was made perfectly.

It felt like losing Sarah for the first time all over again. To experience this on PS3, then PS4, then PS5, and now HBO. AND still have it hit me harder than ever. Bravo.

I like how they handled this. In the game, before the shot, it was, "But sir.. There's a little girl." ANd in the show, "I'm sorry, " after the shot. Both did a good job of showing the reluctance of a faceless, uncredited soldier. Both of them did a fantastic job in a few words of portraying how rough the situation is, how desperate everyone was. I am so hopeful for the show for staying so close, despite differences, to the source material. Hopefully this keeps up.
And holy shit, the addition of Joel's plea to Tommy... What an amazing job they did. Please HBO. PLEASE continue to do justice to this amazing story.

The soldier saying “I’m sorry” was underrated. He didn’t really wanna do it, but it was his orders and we don’t know what kinda punishment he would get if he didn’t shoot them

I gotta be honest, despite the great casting, I didn’t believe HBO could recreate how sad Sarah’s death was in the show. I’m glad I was wrong. The actress did a great job.

A detail I really like is that Tommy was a veteran of the Gulf War. In the part where Joel called for his help, Tommy knew that a shot to the stomach, especially for a teenage girl like Sarah? He knew that there was nothing they can do. Even if Sarah was alive for a single moment, Tommy knew that she has no chance. And that’s just tragic.

This is why you should never judge a cast based on looks alone…

Sarah, she was his love! She was his life! She was the one thing he couldn't lose!

Fuckin’ broke my heart all over again…I’ve seen this countless times in game clips, but it still hurts - and Nico fleshing out Sarah and her scenes with Pedro just hitting me in the feels over and over again just exponentially amplified the pain and grief.

I’m glad I resubbed to HBO Max. Worth every penny.

Bet all those who cried about the casting are quiet now🤣. She was phenomenal.
