Well, the chief is not quitting, time for him spent some of his remaining days to his family. I know what is life being a merchant marine, you could be away from your family for 12 months or something depends on your signed contract. He could go to teaching job and I’m sure with his impressive qualification he could landed a good paying teaching job. He is done on the ocean and time for him to go back the land job without any fear of ship accidents, go home everyday and see the family. Life of Seafarer always faces a challenges everyday every time you leave the port, I’m not talking about the “ in Every Port Report, In Every Place Replace”, those old dictum for the merchant marine sound like really happened in real life right ??? Chief Makoi had different ways of dealing this distractions especially you are a thousand miles away from your family, and he will tell your if you asked him but just remind chief Makoi is not a personal questions, is just about how do you deal the situations. Good things he shared and being open to the public how he start from the very beginning as low ranking Engine cadets till the peak of the highest positions as a Chief Engineers. Doesn’t have to be a PMMA grads to get a good paying job overseas, is just some of the overseas shipping company already heard the Philippines merchant marine quality. Hope our government and some of the merchant marine school, by any means, they have to updates their teaching and equipments to make us more advanced and ahead to any outside the country maritime school. Thanks, from Leyte.

Good to see the Chief, spent my time in the engine rooms back in the 1960s, visited nearby Subic Bay a couple times long before the eruption, and have enjoyed many of the Chiefs videos, I send my thanks and Best Wishes to him.
