Was the ship's navigation system hacked? Was it intentional? Here's an analysis on the controversial track that the Ever Given made moments before is was grounded in the Suez Canal.

That is the international maritime signal for "We are about to "C**k Block" the waterway, be forewarned".

I believe that is the international symbol for "we're screwed".

If the Evergreen was found to have done this intentionally, they could have had to face some stiff penal codes.

Chief, all respect to you. You are a level-headed, good-humoured, great guy who knows his business. We need more like you, sir. All the best.

As Bob Ross would say. "It's a happy little accident".

This kind of content is what I love youtube for. Real people, in real occupations, showing real life stuff that you don't usually get to see. Only sad part is that I only found you channel a few days ago.
I love your content, Chief. Its nice to see an explanation from someone that actually serves on these type of ships, and has experience with that sort of thing to explain it logically, rather than someone that's never set foot on a ship trying to explain it.

I want to see what all the other ships were drawing.

Hi Chief, I am a 2nd officer on the bridge. When we wait for a pilot we don't do circles, we usually drift. If anything we do kicks ahead to maintain position and heading. Also we wouldn't do circles in confined waters with vessels anchored all around. So to me it seems very strange.

I think this is literally one of the only channels on Youtube that explains things with intelligence and common sense... Love it!

Freud would have a field day with this one 🧐 I mean they were “entering Sue’s canal” after all.

Did anyone notice all the other ships had no problem staying in one position almost the entire video.

we'll be following your track closely, Chief, to see how much better your drawing skills are.

I literally know nothing about ships, and every time I listen to this guy, I learn something. Experience, humor, knowledge, you got it all, man, thanks for making these videos !

I just love how Chief flat out calls it a dick-pick. I mean credit where credit is due; he said it, but we are all thinking it.

I am a retired veteran Marine Engineer of 40 experience, finally qualifying as Chief Engineer on Steam and Motor vessels. I suspect the anchors were heaved up, and the ship was simply maneuvering all around to pick up the Pilot without wasting any time. The schedules of a vessel this size can be very tight, hence every minute counts. It could be any thing else, but we might never know. Time will tell. By the way, I like and look forward to your videos. Keep up the good work.

This reminds me of that joke about the guy who goes to a psychoanalyst. The analyst draws a circle and asks the patient what it means to him. The patient says “Sex”. Next, the analyst draws a triangle and again asks the patient what he sees in the image. Again the patient answers “Sex”. Finally, the analyst draws a polygon and asks the patient what thoughts the image gives him, and again the patient says “Sex”. Analyst: “I’m afraid you have a one-track mind. You are obsessed with sex.” Patient: “I don’t know what you mean, it’s YOU that’s been drawing all the dirty pictures!”

Hey Chief, Last week the Eemsland Hendrika got into trouble in the North Sea and the captain had to order most of the crew to abandon ship. What startled me was that they did not use the life boat, but instead were picked up one by one via winch from the Coast Guard Helicopter. One of the crew actually went overboard and was picked up with help from a rescue diver. Wind speeds during this event were high and seas were rough. If you ever find yourself lacking a topic to cover, could you address why the crew would at times avoid using the lifeboat. I'm guessing in case of the Eemsland Hendrika that they left the lifeboat for the captain and the few engineers left behind. - BTW ocean going tugs were able to capture and tow the Eemsland Hendrika into port without any lifes lost. They even managed to retrieve cargo that went overboard... Stay safe!

They were playing ship charades. Their card was “cockblocked”
