Good to hear you are getting recognized for your impact on the shipping industry and from a seaman’s perspective. I wish you all the best!

Chief, I am an old salty-dog US Navy Sailor. I have always enjoyed your content, and somewhere down deep wondered, how I would have liked it to join the Merchant Marine and continued sailing. As it stands, I have no regrets and I probably wouldn't change a thing. However, I appreciate your content space and the efforts you put forward are fantastic for many. My wife is also a US Navy Veteran, she loves your channel too. Thank you sir!

You underestimate your abilities and reach. The one aspect that drew me to your channel is that you can tell a story, bringing us into the full experience of emotion, and artfully presenting the whole cloth of seafaring life. Keep on with the beauty, grandeur, skill and felt experience of your full life at sea. You're a special man. Never forget that.

Glad to see you well Chief. Don’t feel pressure to post, but at the same time just the occasional check in would be nice. Don’t feel pressure for every video to be a huge production, sometimes it’s okay just to say hello. Don’t let something fun become a chore. Best wishes!

I'm a just retired machinist from the energy and aero space industry. Been doing it for 45 Years. With that being said, you know I love mechanical apparatus. Always enjoy your vids. I've always been amazed by large marine craft from deep sea oil wells to huge ships at sea. Thank you for taking me along with you on your voyages using YouTube. I wish you all the best, and all the success in your upcoming endeavors. Your hard work and leadership shows in your vids.

Appreciate the update chief. I'm a 31yo game designer (level designer specifically) and came across your channel while looking up the engine bay of cargo ships for a personal project of mine. Honestly I'd say you've gone above and beyond with showing us the fascinating life of a sailor, and the hard work it takes to keep the machines running (both the literal machines on the ships and the figurative machine of maritime logistics). Your documentary-quality production is greatly appreciated, though I wouldn't mind a few more shorts from time to time during the editing phases 😄

Hello Chief, nice to see you back but good for you to take time out. I'm not a sailer or an engineer, I'm an English woman living in Czech Republic helping children learn English.. But I find your videos really interesting. All the very best with your new ventures. Gail, Czech Republic

SO GLAD you're back Chief ! Of all the channels I follow, yours has always been the one I look forward to. Entertaining, informative, no drama, no current events, just a real life experience, shared for us all to enjoy. Thank you so much Chief, stay safe and we all look forward to more adventure. 👍👏

Good to see you back, Chief! Even if you haven't had time to edit, post, etc., know that when your crew sees a new video release, they smile about it. A plaque on the wall is awesome, but your content makes people more knowledgeable, more happy, and comfortable. For not being artistic or creative, you are pretty good at both. Probably because you are genuine. Cheers.

You are one of the most authentic "creators" on YouTube. It is really interesting to hear how you are preparing for the next phase of your life. Best wishes for whatever is ahead of you.

Chief, I'm a mechanical engineer, but my experience is in stationary machines far from the sea, so, I thank you for showing how stuff is offshore and allow every gearhead here to tindulge in the secret world of huge maritime nuts bolts and calipers! I particularly enjoy the disassembly, maintenance and show and tell of the stuff in the boat, we never get to see those big oil separators and a guy walking inside a piston housing elsewhere!

Good to hear from you again, I am sure others were as worried about you as I was!
I have had a warm space in my heart for the Philippines since living there as a child 1953-55, and your videos, in addition to their maritime engineering, management, travelog, and philosophy(!) content, always bring me back to those times. I remember Manila harbor being full of sunken ships!
Maraming salamat po.

G'day from Australia Chief, it's good to see you back and looking forward to more videos on your adventures.
In one of your videos many moons ago you shared a nugget of wisdom, "with enough time any problem can be solved", a saying which served me enormously well during the challenges of the past few years. Keep up your great work, and good to see you prioritising your own health.

Hi Chief Makoi, I’m a labor & delivery nurse, not a sailor or engineer, but I really enjoy learning from your videos, and seeing the ocean from your perspective. Your video on Liquefaction? when transporting material was excellent. I will enjoy watching whenever you find a topic or event of interest. You’re an excellent teacher. And I enjoy learning about a different world, away from the hospital.

Chief Makoi. I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Although I am technical person (Process Engineer retired), I knew nearly nothing about the maritime industry until I began following your videos. Incredibly well produced and interesting. A good friend and colleague, a Dutch ships engineer, always shared his work experience. Now I have an appreciation of the work he actually performed. Thank you for the information you provide. Enjoy your farm life.

I like your channel Chief and enjoy the content. I am now 69 years old and joined a British shipping company as an engineer cadet way back in 1971. I spent my whole working career as a ship's engineer, from cadet through to Chief, then onboard offshore drilling rigs and then in technical management in offices around the world. So, I remember joining my first ship at No.4 Berth, Victoria Docks, London and thinking to myself that the Ch/Eng seemed to know absolutely everything about everything. Also that I could never, possibly, ever know as much as he did!!! Well, after years of working with very good senior engineers and lots of experience I gradually realised that I was now the "oracle" onboard and that I had actually learned a lot more than I had realised.
