House explodes in Long Beach

A house in Long Beach was destroyed in an explosion that also damaged another structure on the property Monday morning.

The house is on Gale and 28th, just west of the 710. It is listed as a 2BR, 2BA, 1100 sqft and sold about two years ago for over 500 000. There is no mention of additional square footage, so I guess the part that blew up is an ADU that has since been added.

Ever notice that whenever a house just explodes (it seems to happen several times per year), we never end up hearing what caused it?
If it was an innocent gas leak - then we should all probably be much more aware of how dangerous natural-gas systems are in our homes.
If the resident somehow was building an explosive, that also would be newsworthy - but we never get followup.

no answer, maybe. in TX, a hotel exploded in downtown, a year ago, there was no answer yet.
