I'm not an overly religious man, but I can't help but think that our lack of coming together a a community, going to church, knowing and being involved with each other hasn't gone a long way to getting here.

I used to be a drug addict. I'm just thankful I never got to this point. I always had a home or apartment. Somehow I functioned. I worked odd ball jobs here & there. Not all addicts get this far. Rock bottom for me was when i lost a good job, a dear friend, & my husband. We have since remarried after my recovery. I apologized to my dear friend & we are talking again. Rock bottom is different for everyone. Unfortunately rock bottom is death for many. When my husband filed for divorce that really woke me up. He stayed by my side but at a distance the whole time. He'd check on me everyday. When he seen the change really happening in me he came back.
I was one of the lucky ones. I'm even completely off methadone now. 2 years sober of opiates. I smoke cannibis & microdose shrooms but that's it. Occasionally on a rare blue moon, lsd, after it's tested of course. I won't touch anything else.
At least cannibis won't make me consider breaking my own arm for more. If i don't have it i don't have it. Some drugs just take a powerful hold on you! It'll make you do things you'd never do otherwise.

Tnx4d update of what's happening in Kensington Ave Philadelphia. So sad to see homeless addicts on the side walks. They are helpless and in miserable condition. Drugs destroyed their precious lives. Hope they can still recover and start a new life 📺

I was there Saturday for the market and as a tourist. I live in PA. My son is an addict. As I was leaving market at 3 in the afternoon, any family would have seen what I did. Prostitution, people laying on sidewalks and alleys, a guy urinating on a building, shit on the sidewalk, needles in active use, drug transactions, a guy bending over to pick up his drugs but gave up after numerous attempts and just laid down with it, a guy screaming at a young woman and threatening to hit her and almost NO police presence! And this is leaving the MARKET! Why is this allowed???? This epidemic is facing every family. Shut the border, paddy wagon roundup every night, family calling and knocking on legislators doors. This has to Not one more!

12:10 Mind boggling. Here's a bloke with both legs amputated. He can barely sit upright in his wheelchair due to having lost so much of his lower body mass. Yet here is, still out on the street using drugs. How is this anything other than slow, drawn out suicide?

I have written to the city officials of Philly so many times with possible solutions and ideas to help clean up this part of the city. Nobody gets back to me. They can at least have tests available for the users so they can check for tranq. Some places already do this.
