This 520 HP FT86 powered by a BMW S85B50 5.0 L V10 is a step away from what we normally see these cars repowered with and at the 2017 World Time Attack Challenge Brad from Zoom Garage gave us some insight into the Brett Dickie Racing driven beast.

As well as the BMW engine, the car runs a BMW E92 M3 6 speed manual gearbox with traction and engine management being controlled by the MoTeC M150 ECU and assisted by a Tomei .5 way differential. Surprisingly this package has a weight split of 52/48 with a minimal overall weight increase. The S85 now has a dry sump setup as well as fuel pump and injector upgrades that are required to handle the demands of the E85 fuel.

With this years WTAC also being the shakedown run after a frantic 72 day build, we’re really excited to see how the car develops with a chance to fine tune before next years event.

Finally an interviewer asks questions regarding the specifics on the build.

we need more v10 engines in our life they are just so beautiful.

I subbed not because of the car, but because the interviewer knows his shit and isn't one of those people who asks pointless questions. Best interview ever.

Also this is probably the first GT86 that isn't a fucking drift car. Finally.

Car is awesome but I really liked the presenter. Super knowledgeable. Great video.

Toyota didnt need subaru to make the 86 since everyone just engine swaps it. Probably would have been cheaper just to sell a body in white without drivetrain.

I really wanted to do this after seeing the LFA body kit lol made me smile! Glad someone did it! Very cool!

Awesome build. I always wanted to put an S65 V8 (E9x M3) into a street legal 86/BRZ but I wasn't really sure about how badly it would affect the handling compared to a boxer engine with low centre of gravity. I'm sure dry sump lubrication system would improve a bit but the whole engine conversion (to be done properly) would cost a lot of money. I hope to see more BMW engines into these 86/BRZs!

I heard V10, I thought Viper V-10 and wondered how it would fit and if the weight would keep the back wheels off the ground. I'm glad I was wrong and it's a BMW V-10 (not the updated truck engine), a real race car engine. I can't wait to see what this car will do on the track.

Great choice on the drivetrain. S85 is one of the best. Did you rebuild the bottom end for racing ?

Great questions and great interview. It is awesome how they got it to 48/52 with this swap. Such a perfect build.

When you were at this event and this incredible 86 went under your I'm so disappointed that I didn't take more notice of this car over the rx7's, nsx's and lots of the other cool cars... I have so many questions that I could have asked!

The sound reminds me a bit of the gt3 vipers they used to race in the dutch supercar challenge quite some years ago... good times

I watch a lot of vids about track n builds . Certainly one of the best! First, thanks Andre for doing a bang up job of an interview.. Went right after all the stuff I wanted to know that showcased the transformation.. Must say that the numbers were amazing.. was expecting huge weight problem with swap causing f/r balance to be thrown way off.. looking forward to further posts to youtube.. thanks

I was hoping it was going to be powered by the Toyota V10 found in the Lexus LFA.
