'Kawasaki' V8 powered Toyota 86 running to 10,900 revs

This Toyota 86/BRZ/FRS is fitted with a 3.0 litre Synergy V8 which is an NZ built engine using a CNC machined crankcase, billet flat plane crank, and a pair of Kawasaki ZX12R cylinder heads.

The CNC machined goodness also includes a sump with an integral dry sump pump. The Synergy V8 revs to 10,900 rpm and makes close to 500 hp at 10,600. Behind the engine is a Holinger 6 speed sequential gearbox with air shifted paddle shift control.

The engine and gearbox are both controlled with a MoTeC #m150 using the new '86 Engine Swap/Paddle Shift package'. The paddle shift system provides closed loop ignition and fuel cutting for up shifts, and throttle blipping to match revs on a down shift. It can also automatically retry a gearshift if it detects a miss shift. If you want to get really lazy it can also run in a full automatic mode - But why wouldn't you want to pull those paddles?? The ECU also controls the compressor to maintain consistent air pressure. Turn up the volume and enjoy each one of those 10,900 revs.

Want to be like Andre? We can't do anything about your accent, however, we can hook you up with some of the HPA branded gear that he wears.

Wow, please post more videos of this car! If you can, I would like to know how easy it was to install it and get it all wired up. From the speed hunters articles on Jun Auto's BRZ and Synergy's 86 demo cars, I remember reading the stock transmission can tolerate the 2.4 litre synergy. Is it also the same case for this 3.0 version? As it revs over 10K rpm, does the engine need to be topped up with oil much more regularly than a regular engine? Also, how much does it cost to do all this in total? I'd imagine it won't be cheap.

Yay for flat-plane cranks! :)
Not sure why cross-planes haven't really been used for I4's yet..

Tbh I like the idea but I think I'll just turbo mine when I get one.... :) super cool though, can imagine it will be amazing for the owner.

Holy crap. That build costs more than the car itself.

This engine or ITBs on a Voodoo would be my top affordable swap choices. I like the LS/LT motors too, but the revs would be awesome.

Seems like it would never make enough torque to use it in a track
