I think the biggest problem with niching down is the "grass in greener on the other side" mentality. I think once you start focusing on a small niche there's a chance your digging an empty gold mine while there could be one right next to it.

The concern that most people have about niching down is, if they are already having an issue finding clients with no niche, niching down smaller seems counterintuitive. Especially if you're desperate for work. I.E. web design agency takes every job available (real estate, doctor, restaurant, etc.) and to cut out everyone but restaurants would mean turning away potential deals when you need them. Especially if they're inbound or referrals.

I recently started a cleaning company. I decided to go into the commercial cleaning space and am currently planning to niche down to commercial office cleaning. Most of my competitors do everything from commercial to end of lease cleans. We have a specialised office cleaning system and training that I am hope separates us from our competitors and qualifies us higher within the niche. What do you guys think?

My main challenge is how to know if the niche I choose is going to be profitable?

What I do is just fucking telling them I do things for your industry, whether I'm calling or emailing them according to whom I'm sending but I do all niches and still get the niching benefits.
What you think about that strategy?

Niching down is suitable for only national or global seo or app services as this involves content marketing. Niching down is not suitable at all for PPC and Local targeting SEO. Better way to grow your agency is you specialize on a particular niche in digital marketing (example: social media or web design or PPC or SEO) then grow your company from there. I have seen that's how many large agencies became later successful. Unless you do national seo or global seo or an app for a particular client niche. Choosing a niche to offer a variety of digital marketing services is a crazy idea.

Do you mean like niche inside a niche or just a niche for example with a Instagram page that post food so now they are in the food niche you mean is it better to get more deep like for example food niche with only food burgers pics? Thanks

I'd love to choose a niche. I'd love to be able to focus all my marketing efforts on attracting a specific type of person or business.

But.

I don't feel I have enough knowledge about a specific niche to go into it. I'm used to working with anyone and everyone and I started this business straight out of college so I have no other real experience in niches.
