There are so many power plugs for modern 5 - 12 volt DC consumer electronics, There's 5 volt ac adapters, usb cables, mini usb, round ones, 3.5 and 2.5mm it seems the list is endless. What can you do when they do match up to one another? Can I wire them up together myself and save time and money? Yes you can! Here's how to do it..

Your video is very helpful. My old SRICAMs need replacing and I don't feel like re-routing a new USB cable from inside the attic to outside where the new camera replaces the older one. Thanks for posting!

I have several usb charging cords and plugs from old Android phones. Plug goes into wall and has a usb port. At one point I had hundreds. These things are everywhere so unlikely this procedure would be necessary with so man plugs in the world.

Pretty sure the "Chinese people" are thinking "we better make it the way the American manufacturer tells us to so they will pay us for our cheap labor."

I'm attempting to take a star shower Christmas laser projector that plugs into the wall and cut off the wall plug and then solder in its place to the circuit board a 5v usb cable so I can power it with a USB power supply so it can be used mobile without a wall plug.... I've done this 3 times but it only worked once. I'm not sure why it didn't work the other 2 times I might have had positive and negative touching so I'm going to show it or maybe these lasers were different brands and required different volts, or maybe just the first time on it took but it only required five volts... Anyways when I'm connecting with positive and negative from USB on the circuit board and the laser there's an L and a N .... Should the positive go to the L or the N if I have any shot at making this work this time and not ruining another laser. If you could reply that would be great thank you for your time. Doing a successfully means I can put the laser shower on my bike as a light and light up an entire block lol or on my drone and do the same from the sky pretty cool looking. Cheers!

Could you use the other two USB wires to send/receive the audio signal?

My laptop charger has a while wire and a bar ground wire. Do I use the black(+) to the wore and red (=)wire to the ground? My usb c has red black green white and blue.

These Chinese people are thinking “hey so everyone is converting their small devices over to be usb powered because everyone now has a million of those phone charger blocks. Since we’re an international manufacturer it would be more universal and create less waste if we had our devices powered by USB too. That way we can sell in ANY country and won’t have to make our product with 20 different style prongs on it for each countries electrical standards” “great idea! And I bet it’ll piss off a bunch of those less intelligent Americans over there who think the world outside of the United States is exactly like it is in their little Ohio town because the world revolves around America, even though they’re the only remaining holdout on a ton of global standards like the metric system which is vastly simpler”

wouldn't it have been easier to just buy a usb to 110v cube?

The comment about chinese people was unnecessary.

Fyi you can buy a usb wall charger for 5 bucks at Walmart or just ask your kids for a "phone charger".

Ummm. There’s a very simple solution. Just buy the brick for the usb. Or have the outlet with usb ports. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
