Divide a unit fraction by a whole number
Показать описание
Divide a unit fraction by a whole number
In this lesson you will learn to divide a unit fraction by a whole number by thinking about equal-sized pieces within one whole.
ADDITIONAL MATERIALS
STANDARDS
VA.CE.6.5.a multiply and divide fractions and mixed numbers;
CCSS.5.NF.B.7.a Interpret division of a unit fraction by a non-zero whole number, and compute such quotients. For example, create a story context for (1/3) ÷ 4, and use a visual fraction model to show the quotient. Use the relationship between multiplication and division to explain that (1/3) ÷ 4 = 1/12 because (1/12) × 4 = 1/3.
IN.5.C.7 Use visual fraction models and numbers to divide a unit fraction by a non-zero whole number and to divide a whole number by a unit fraction.
TEKS.6.3.E multiply and divide positive rational numbers fluently.
TEKS.5.3.J represent division of a unit fraction by a whole number and the division of a whole number by a unit fraction such as 1/3 ÷ 7 and 7 ÷ 1/3 using objects and pictorial models, including area models;
