Never Let Me Go is the book that got me back into reading as an adult. I could not put it down. I became obsessed with the world and its characters. Currently reading Ubik on your recommendation and it is amazing.

Stand on Zanzibar by John Brunner; Madlands by KW Jeter; Missing Man by Katherine Maclean; Last Call by Tim Powers; and any PKD story.

This was such a great intro! I thought you were talking about Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde though!

Never Let Me Go is so sad and beautiful, great to have on the list. Well done for describing with no spoilers!

Gibson has been collectively deemed a genius for inventing the idea of corporate extractions by means of employing mercenaries that go by names like "Fox" or "Turner".

Great list, definitely made a mental note to read the ones I hadn't already, but before I do anything else I have got to find that edition of 1984...

Hi Jakob! I posted my video on dystopian novels and this popped up in my recommendations! I'm so glad I found this, this video is funny! You might get a few ideas from the books that I talk about :)

I've read nearly all of these. Need to give random acts of senseless violence a go. Especially as it's part of the SF masterworks set!

William Gibson is my favorite author. Glad to see him on the list.

Thanks! That's four new books I need to read now! ^_^ Read 'Neuromancer' so many times, I can speak the dialogue! ^_~

I recently got Random Acts of Senseless Violence and am VERY excited about reading it... so much so that I keep putting it off so that I can properly enjoy it. XD I love 1984. Have you read "We"? It started off very similar but then went in weird weird ways. Never Let Me Go is one of my most favorite movies and one of the few cases in which I prefer the movie over the book, but only because of atmosphere. They're both fantastic. I thought Brave New World was interesting as a thought experiment but I really didn't like it. Neuromancer is in my all-time top 3 and I love it. :D Nice list.

What about the novel ‘Sex in the Time of Segregation?’

You should check The Road by Cormac McCarthy and The Giver by Lois Lowry.

I read 1984 and Brave New World around the time I went to college and I want to reread them, especially Brave New World. I read Point Counterpoint by Huxley a couple of years ago and loved it.

I'm such a sucker for a good dystopian novel. I saw the film of Never Let Me Go a few years back, before I knew it was a book. I thought it was really good.
