I picked up a book called The Runner A Postapocalyptic Tale at an anime convention a few years ago and ended up absolutely loving it. Basically this girl has inherited the job of a runner after her father disappeared two years ago and sets out to run to a tower to find an Oracle.

These sound intriguing. I'm just getting into this genre so I appreciate your nice summaries. 🙂

I would definitely say to check out Station Eleven if you haven’t read it yet. It’s a post-apocalyptic dystopian set 20 years after a flu wipes out 99% of the population. It’s great if you like multiple timelines and seemingly unrelated characters/stories that slowly start to weave together and make sense by the end. The tv show adaptation is different but also amazing.

Docile has been on my radar for a while, but hearing you say that you enjoyed it so much makes me even more excited to check it out! Loved all these recs, thanks for sharing 🤩
Sorrowland is a true genreblend, but there's definitely dystopia and horror in there, so I would loooove to hear your thoughts!!

The Wool series sounds great! Will definitely be adding that to my tbr, and probably a lot of the others too 😂🌲

I liked Wool at the start but thought it fell apart by the third book. LOVED the Arc of the Scythe trilogy. My grandson put me onto it when he was about 15. He had a lot to say about why Utopian settings always end up being dystopian.

I remember loving The Chrysalids by John Wyndham in high school.

Love the Arc of the Scythe series, Wayward Pines series and the Silo series all!
I will recommend Wolf by Wolf duology by Ryan Graudin. It's a YA Historical Fiction and Dystopia-series about what happened when Hitler won WW2.
Beginning of synopsis: "The year is 1956, and the Axis powers of the Third Reich and Imperial Japan rule. To commemorate their Great Victory, Hitler and Emperor Hirohito host the Axis Tour: an annual motorcycle race across their conjoined continents. The victor is awarded an audience with the highly reclusive Adolf Hitler at the Victor’s Ball in Tokyo..."

A couple I never have heard of. Looking forward to "Sand". I only knew about Hugh's Wool series.

Great list! Speaking of dystopias, have you heard of 'CronoRevolution'? It's a mind-bending tale set in a future where freedom is an illusion. Definitely worth checking out if you're into stories about resistance and survival!

My 3 favorite dystopian/post-apocalyptic books:

Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank

Earth Abides by George R. Stewart

Riddley Walker by Russell Hoban (a difficult read due to the "devolved English" its written in, but once you get past the language...)

Personal faves in this category are Engine Summer, by John Crowley and Davy, by Edgar Pangborn. I believe both are OOP.

Wool, Scythe, and The Girl with All the Gifts sound good! Going to look up a few you mentioned at the end of the video also. The Wayward Pines trilogy is amazing 😍 Too bad the TV series was crap 😂 Thanks for all the recs!! 🌳
