By scientists, for scientists: A new partnership is born

In February 2013, Nature Publishing Group and Frontiers announced a strategic alliance to advance the global open science movement. The two publishers will work together on open access publishing, open science tools, networking, and innovations in publication processes.

After watching that, I'm still not sure what Frontiers is. Can someone explain it?

This is nice for science, but science needs to be far more effective in transmitting its discoveries to the general public. The person on the street is astoundingly ignorant of science and what it has discovered thus leaving the majority of the world totally ignorant of the marvelous wonders of scientific knowledge and even a bias against it.

the classical peer-review system is already dead.. open sourece, open acces is the direction to go.. frontiers is a step towards the novel era.. a reviever who spends half a day on my work on which I have spend at least 2 years can not undertstand it throughly, be objective, etc, etc.. The new format will eventually end the topic mafia of the reviewers editors, etc, etc. (there are nice guys too) best example is snpedia.com. no editor or reviewer on earth is able to do that job.

FrontierSin Commercialites was just ghastly to contemplate; desert- ocean- and space- adapted corals incongruously sneezing on impossibly fey yet vibrant native species, emergent neti flora. So instead it is another Open Access-y portal thing, and distinct from AAAS outings because of chaotic good, Ireland hardship sidebars, and because other non-EU, non-EMEA, non-BRIC sometimes scientists/engineers/punters also ought stay productive without hand-copying preprints. You plot endeavor, they catch.
